@Stormchild:  OHHHH how exciting!! that dress is very Kate Middleton! but not really 1950’s style! you should get a skater style dress they are very 1950’s! Oasis have some lovely ones and some are reduced now in the sale! they’re super flattering too i find! i’m a size 12! heres a link to the skater dresses! the pink one on page 1 is very cute!

@Stormchild:  If you’re open to purchasing a dress, there are some great 50s dresses on Modcloth

@Stormchild:  I never buy anything full price in oasis! But I got lovely dress reduced there last week! You’re sure to find a skater style reduced in any of the main shops though! And at least you might have a chance of wearing it again! So is it a daytime nighttime thing? If its nighttime you could get your hair done 50’s style and wear red lips! If its day time you could go all Bridget jones esque! How exciting!!

50’s fashion is very figure flattering, though it doesn’t show off so much leg.  Find a dress with a fitted bodice and a lot of flare, a la these mad men dresses http://www.sew2pro.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/madmen1.jpg

Sounds like you’re in the UK so i wont be much help with the where, but this is a popular sillouhette right now, i’d go to a department store or something.  I actually tried on a dress at H&M yesterday that was similar to the green dress in the picture, but in plum.

I’d go with a solid print because it will look better in photos IMO.

@Stormchild:  I don’t really think that grey dress would really say 50’s. Here’s a LINK to a dress that I think would fit the part (hopefully it is a proposal).

*Fingers crossed* I hope he proposes!!

Rock it girl! check out ebay there are PLENTY! If you love wearing green, rock your ring in something like this, or go the black/grey route  to offset that stone xo
