Perusing our wedding venue website last night, I noticed something odd. On the page that lists events, the day of our wedding listed only the “lower hall” as booked. We have paid a deposit on both halls.
So I sent a quick email to ask for confirmation that it was an error, and that we are indeed booked for both. Get a reply that… the place has changed ownership and management!!! No one bothered to contact us! The email was very nice and assured me that we are still booked and can of course have both halls. But we should meet “to avoid any misunderstanding.”
I have a rock in my stomach now. I am convinced they are going to jack up the prices and of course I never signed a contract with the last manager. Things are a lot more casual in this country so it really wasn’t necessary. I do have lots of correspondance between myself and the former event manager, but I just know this is going to end up costing money we haven’t been planning on. The wedding is in July and one thing after another is piling up non-wedding related costs…
(We have been trying to sell my FI’s car back in England for 6 months and can’t get any bites. Now we’re going to have to shell out over 100 English to scrap it!!! Just one example.)
I have been crying since this afternoon. Sorry. kind of a downer post, but this is the one place I can be sure people have had similar experiences and can at least relate. 🙁
