So, once again after eating a bunch of junk and feeling sick after because Darling Husband and I had a fight and I emotional eat, I have decided. No more! And I always have a reason not to try, Or I say I have already screwed up this week, or this month but I have decided, a random Thursday in February is my day. I’m going to a zumba class to kick start my getting healthy! It is something to get me out of my house other than work, it is way cheaper than the gyms around here and I can afford it, it won’t be at a time I am at work and apparently it is actually stinking good cardio and unlike thw Jillian Michaels dvds I bought, won’t annoy my neighbors or kill my knees!
I’m excited and about to die all at once. I’m not very graceful, at all. But I really think this is something I could stick with. I did some classes in college at the rec center and actually enjoyed it, so I am hoping this goes well!
We are ntnp and I feel like getting in better shape can only help that. Plus I have this vicious cycle of, I look fat, hate the way I look, emotionally eat, then feel worse. So if I can get moving in a way I can enjoy and with other people (I loathe walking /running with untold passion) then I think I can make other positive changes .
So, anyone zumba? Have you had good results? Or any experience at all with it?

@chasesgirl: Good luck, but you’ll be fine! Zumba’s fun rather than lethal. I’m not saying it’s not a good cardio workout, but you’re likely to be enjoying yourself too much to feel defeated.
One tip: don’t care how silly you look, because everyone looks daft doing Zumba!

I love Zumba! It’s the one workout at the gym I always will make myself go to. I’m to scared to go to Spinning or a few of the other classes they offer. I’m not saying I won’t eventually go to them, but Zumba is a always a good time and I leave every single time with a huge smile on my face knowing I worked out and had fun. I tell myself if I lose another 20lbs I’ll get into P90X or R.I.P.P.E.D but for right now I’m perfectly content dancing like a fool to Kesha and Pitbull.

I’ve done Zumba a few times and I’m pretty uncoordinated, so my attempts are always laughable.
I recommend trying a few different classes (maybe hunt for a Groupon). I pay for 5 classes a month with my gym and I love the variety. I do warrior (weight training), PIYO, power pilates, yoga, and the cardio classes they provide (including Zumba). It really depends on what mood I’m in but I’m always nice and sore after.
When I stuck to one class or worked out on my own, I didn’t see results quite as quick. Doing something different all the time works out new muscles and gives your body time to recover.

If you’re looking for something else fun you should look into Kangoo Boots. There’s lots of dance/cardio routines with them on YouTube too!
Good luck with Zumba, I’ve never tried it but it looks fun!

It’s been really great! More cardio than I’ve done in years which is pathetic. Super fun even though I’m totally not coordinated at all. This gym is great and with the multiple punch card I got while on a special , only like. $2/class! I have been every day this week!

@chasesgirl: So you’d recommend it? I enjoy Zumba on the wii but would be quite nervous about going to a class…
