I didn’t sign up yet, but my friends did it. It apparently teaches you practical marriage stuff and people have told me that it’s surpisingly interesting!

We went over things like bugets, talked about families, our short term and long term goals, etc. The basis of the class was basically to get couples talking about the important things in life to see if they are on the same page and if not work out their differences. Darling Husband and I were amazed to see how many couples never even talked about finances before.

Our Pre-Cana was a friday and saturday, with a large group of about 40 couples. We had married couples that were speakers about various topics such as money, expectations, goals, children…  after each little presentation we discussed the same topic individually and there was a workbook with pull-out worksheets which we filled out on each topic. There was one talk by a priest, about the meaning of marriage in the church, which was actually very informative, and the stories were hilarious.

We actually really enjoyed it!  We’re not religious, so some of the natural family planning stuff was super awkward (the couple had 7 kids in 8 years… whatever they’re doing, we’re NOT hahahaha), but it was great to talk about money, our different personality types, the role of religion once we have kids, etc.  The couples that presented were really nice and shared great stories.  In all the craziness of being engaged and planning, it was nice to have a day to just sit next to each other for awhile 🙂

Good luck!
