FI and I will be doing out Pre-Cana this weekend. I must say...I'm nervous! I am not a talkative person, and I don't like attention on me - I hope there is not calling out and making you feel awkward!

I'm back...it was actually a really good weekend. I'm exhausted though!

I wonder if there were any bees there?..........

Just be open to everything. It was a lot of writing and discussing (between you and your fiance- I don't know if they're all like that). And there were 3 couples who have been married for various lengths of times so far, and they discussed their experiences.

I could tell some people weren't really trying to get the most out of it.  They made us separate  to fill out questionnaires about our feeling on sex, finance, family, emotions, etc and then we would get together with our partners and discuss what we had written down. Some people would just hang out and talk, but not about what they had written about.

Anyways, if you actually answer things truthfully and discuss openly, you can get some good conversations started.

The nicest part was at the end of the two day retreat, we were asked to write a love letter to our partner. I was tearing up as I was writing mine to my FI. Then when we got together to share...I couldn't even share...I was crying! And I could see couples next to us crying too...even guys. lol. It was really sweet.  I think that was my favorite part of the two days.

I'm nervous too & have read "horror" stories on line about some couples Pre Cana experience. You have made me feel ALOT better....hoping to have a great experience too, as I am quite reserved & do not like a lot of attention on me either. :)

Sounds like you had a nice experience and actually got something out of it.   We haven't signed up for pre-cana yet and I'm kind of dreading it.  My fiance's aunt & uncle did not have to do pre-cana but were given the option of a sponsor couple which in some ways, I think would be better than the small group scenerio.  But, it's not always offered at every parish, I'm going to make some calls and see if it's offered at our parish.  I cannot see my fiance sharing a love letter he wrote me in a group setting, even if we are sitting alone. hahaha
