@PaisleyMedic:  What time of day is it? Could they do a cheese and crackers type snack? Popcorn would be fine i dont think everyone would at it but kids would love it.

What about fruits and veggies with dips?  That way its nice and light so people will get something but still have room for the big meal.

@PaisleyMedic:  You want to do something that people can very easily eat that is not going to upset anyone’s stomaches and not messy. Maybe some kind of tacquito or spinach puff? Or more simple, what about a “wedding Chex mix” or other party mix? This could be bell shaped pretzels, peanuts, cereal, etc. It could be in cute little cups or bags.

We had a pre-ceremony snack before my daughters wedding because we did a sunset beach wedding and it was a bit late.  The guests really appreciated it.

I can can see your dilemna as you are serving the more traditional apps at the wedding.  Maybe a nicer nut / dried fruit blend or a chez mix / pretzel mix.  I think it would be nice if the mix was in a small cup on trays so people aren’t reaching into a communal bowl of loose snack…that always bothers me at a big event with lots of people.

I went to a wedding where they served little cups of gespacho and small crackers. That was nice and different.

I think just the beverages will be plenty.  You’re close enough to lunchtime that people shouldn’t be starving.

I like the chex mix idea! Or maybe some chips and dip? Bagel chips and hummus? Cookies?

@PaisleyMedic:  Gotcha.  If she wants to showcase herself, I would suggest something fancier than peanuts and pretzels then.  Could she do cheese straws and some kind of glazed pecans or something?

Our preceremony snacks were cilantro lime shrimp on skewers, various cheeses and crackers, veggies with homous dip, and artichoke / spinach dip on crustini.

after the ceremony when we arrived at the reception, we were greeted with champagne on trays, bruschetta, chicken skewers with peanut sauce, and calamari.  We sat down to eat pretty quickly as it was already 8:30 by then.  Thats the down side of a sunset wedding, it’s so late.

But I found many of our guests really appreciated the drinks and snacks prior to the ceremony ( we had a self service bar for them prior as well.).

Chex mix or trail mix.. or both! You could have a few types.. regular chex mix, some type of trail/energy mix with lots of nuts & fruits.. and you could even do a sweet mix with pretzels, and maybe some muddy buddies or puppy chow mixed in.

Plus, these are easy to eat, not super messy and can be brushed off clothing. Also, you could put them in cute decorative cones or even waffle cones for an extra special treat.
