do it!!!! my hair was about the same length as yours, and i was growing it out for my September wedding. I got soooo sick of it and it just was looking scraggly. SO I ended up chopping off about 3-4 inches back in May and I just got it cut again even a bit shorter, it is in between my chin and shoulders. I LOVE it and I am soooo glad I did it!! I figured there was no point in growing my hair for 1 day if I was going to hate it every other day.
I say do it. If you prefer short hair, and it looks better on you, why persist in growing it out for your wedding? Why not look like yourself? Your very best self, of course. ;-)
I confess I am a short hair bride-to-be, myself. I find it perplexing that everyone thinks they must have long hair for their wedding.
I think it's crazy-talk that everyone has to have their hair long for the wedding. Wear your hair how you like it best on your wedding day. If that's in a cute shorter style, hurray for you! You will be stressed enough as the day approaches that at least you will be consoled that your hair will be lookin' fine!
I think if you're feeling The Chop, by all means, do it! I think it will look great and you won't be bothered by the length in the heat.
I'm gonna do it! I made an appt for tomorrow. I figured worse case scenario, I'll be on here asking about wig shop recommendations ;)
I am definitely doing the post wedding chop and have been considering the pre wedding chop as well!! My hair is 6+ past shoulders and the southern heat is killing me! So every time I see my hairstylist I request more layers to lighten the load, I'm afraid I'm going to be thinning it too much and just end up looking ridiculous!
I've seen SO many adorable shorter wedding do's. If I had the guts I'd totally do it!!!
You should definitely do it!
I did it in April - my hair was about 6 inches past my shoulders and just hung there... I hated it. So I got it cut in a chin-length bob! It's grown out a bit since then, but it will still be less than shoulder-length when my wedding rolls around (end of August). I will probably get a trim between now and then too.
It was so liberating... I think it was the best wedding decision I made! ![]()

I know I shouldn't but how do you get through it?
I'm just so sick of it. It's about 3-4" past my shoulders, layered. I have fine hair, and I have A LOT of it. My ends are not in the best shape from being highlighted, dyed, straightened, and blown dry over and over again (times a million). The thought of having a lot less to style every morning is calling my name!
We're going to get married in Vegas in early September in an outdoor early evening ceremony and I know it's going to be hot and sticky there. If I had half the amount of hair as I do now it would be so much nicer... so much cooler...
I know I should wait until after. Right? Anyone cut their hair before? Were you glad you did or did you regret it? Thinking about it?
