I used to have virtual dates with my husband when we were long distance.  We would both go to the video store, call one another, pick out a movie together, and go home and press play at the same time.

@jocelyn: that's so cute!! m and i met on the internet and we would have "Dates" or times where we would go to the same place or eat dinner at the same time and email pictures to one another. i think it's why we are so close now, because we've been best friends for years.

One night, we tried doing an audio chat on the computer instead of holding the phones to our ears and wasting minutes.  My dog got so excited to hear his voice but couldn't figure out where it was coming from so he attacked the computer.

@jocelyn: how adorable!!  we were definitely phone brats!! we talked ALL THE TIME! it was hilarious.. and when we weren't talking we were texting.  We did this for like 9 months (we met briefly once).

I saw this movie on Saturday!  So glad we got tickets in advance because I heard every show for the night was sold out by noon.  The lines were so long to get in.

The movie was fantastic.  Mo'nique was amazing and I think she definitely has a chance at an Oscar.  The last scene with her really clinched it for me.

Great movie overall, albeit sad, and I advise anyone to go check it out if it's playing in your area.

It won't be here in Charlotte until the 20th...arrrgggg. I am dying to go see this movie. I know I will probably be crying like crazy but that's OK...I still want to see it. You would think Charlotte would be big enough to have the darn movie on opening weekend but no such luck.

I cannot wait to see this movie!  I've already told Mister that we'd be there on opening night and he better bring tissue.  I know I'll be crying throughout the movie.

I saw "Precious" today...one of my friends/LS/sorority sister and her husband came up today and we all went to see it. OMG!! I feel so traumatized!! I don't even know how to describe it. I am waiting to see if any other bees have seen it before I start posting my most disturbing moments....oh my goodness....

crebre...I really felt traumatized...it was so much to have to endure I was a little numb by the end. I felt like I would imagine Precious felt and I think that was the point of the movie...but still. There are a couple of scenes that will haunt me that's for sure. I need a hug.

Oh gosh. I don't handle traumatizing movies very well. I don't know if I could handle this movie, as badly as I want to see it.

@Laylabelle...I think it was harder for me b/c I have a daughter and I know how careful I am to make sure she is protected and cared for and loved....this movie is so much the opposite of that it was like...whoa...I don't want to ruin it for anybody so I will be on pins and needles waiting for you guys to see it so we can discuss. In the meantime I am going to purchase the book to see what was left out.

@JB - Just tell me this - or PM me if you want so no one else sees, but a lot of my decision on whether or not to go rides on if they show those graphic sex scenes... I can't handle graphic depictions of abuse. I just can't.

FI and I saw this last week.  It was very touching, but not in the "feel-good" sort of way.  Makes me really thankful for what I have in my life... and yearn to help others who aren't so lucky.  It's really inspirational, and somewhat uplifting... and very heavy on the social commentary.  But like I said, definitely not a wholesome family feel-good movie.

I saw the movie and didn't think it was that bad although plenty screwed up and messed up and yes of course i did cry in it.  but i laughed a lot with the character and was very glad that this movie was made... life isn't always roses you know (coming from someone who was also abused at a very young age).. i'm always curious to see how it's portrayed in the movies and am glad that they put it out there..

I saw the movie last weekend, and I thought the abuse scenes in particular were very well done. Too many times in movies (IMHO) abuse seems dramatized for effect, and kind of exploited. They don't *have* to be super graphic to get the point across - and to effect you. I thought the director handled the abuse scenes very well.

    Mo'nique was AMAZING. AMAZING.

Like ddubzz said, I left feeling extremely thankful for what I have, everything from loving parents, to a good education, self esteem and a network of community support; friends and work. It did serve as a shocking reminder that many are not as lucky.

I saw it a few weeks ago and it was AMAZING! I saw it twice and drove over an hour to see it because it is only being shown in certain theaters. It was worth the drive....I think the movie was real and hard core...SO many girls go through that type of rape and no one ever knows about it...I read the book years ago and I really liked the book....The movie was just wonderful....
