Make sure you go check them out in store and check out any matching furniture you plan to buy (like a dresser).

DH and I decided on a Sorelle crib, as the furniture was a better quality than a lot of the others we saw. For example, the drawers were just so much nicer than everything else we played with. I feel like it’s even nicer than our master bedroom set…

This is the crib we bought:

It’s currently setup in the nursery and looks amazing. Sorelle packs everything extremely well, which we were really happy about. We bought the crib and dresser from Babies R Us, then the nightstand online. Everything came well packaged and in perfect condition. We also ordered the hutch from Babies R Us, but it had a crack in the one piece (packaging was good though). I emailed them one evening and the next day I had a response that they were going to locate and get us the part. I’m waiting on it right now – as this was all just last week.

Go play with everything in stores and get a feel for it. I really liked some others online, but as soon as I toyed with things in the store it just felt cheap. DH was pretty particular on things though, which completely limited me in store.

@lazybee:  I can’t remember what they had in the store. I pretty much let DH look and tell me which he preferred, then I narrowed it down. I had my eyes set on something entirely different but DH didn’t like the feel so I knew it wasn’t an option. We also looked at Buy Buy Baby, but BabiesRUs is closer to us and gave us the best deal (used 20% off for each item).

The crib was $399 I believe, which was pretty standard pricing for convertible cribs here. My parents purchased it as a gift, so I can’t complain about the cost. If I was buying I probably would have been nagging DH to try and find something less expensive (and he probably would have refused anyway).

We plan to get the Graco Lauren crib in white. It’s cheap, but popular and has great reviews. I can’t see spending hundreds of dollars on a crib.

Is anyone looking into a non-toxic crib? I’m looking for leads on one that’s both affordable and attractive but I’m not having much luck.

@mrsjapley:  that looks like the eden madison as well! DH and i love the arch on the bottom. we may just end up with the shermag as well since the eden cant be found in stores anywhere!

@ellebeerob:  ive read the ikea gulliver crib is non toxic! its the cheapest one weve came across as far as non toxic goes. spendier ones are baby dream cube crib, and some made by pacific rim. it doesnt seem there are too many around so you may have to give in to the specific looks youre looking for if the non toxic is most important. good luck!

We inherited a DaVinci Crib from a relative including the matching dresser for $300. I have no idea what model it is, but it is in amazing condition so I would say it is good quality….
