So I know there's a lot of pregnant bees right now and I'm hoping someone else has a silly story to make me feel a little better. I feel like I'm growing dumber by the day. My memory is completely shot and I'm having the dumbest issues. Like yesterday for instance- I wear a pair of slippers while I'm in my classroom at work so that I don't track in stuff all over the carpet. I walked out of work and all the way to the car before I realized I never put on my shoes... How in the world does someone leave without their shoes?? Please someone tell me you have a similar story that will make me feel like its not just me turning to mush.

Well, I'm not pregnant anymore (though it has turned into post-pregnancy brain), but I leave the house wearing slippers all the time. I only recently started getting good at remembering. I almost put powder formula in a bottle that I forgot to put a bottom on.

So yes, it happens all the time.

I can relate! I was standing in the kitchen talking to my husband and I forgot what the pepper mill was called, even though I was holding it in my hand! I just kept staring at it, saying, "this...thing...what it this thing called?" lol

Yes, and hubby has it too.

We promised to make mac-n-cheese for our niece this past Saturday.

    1.  We drive home right past the grocery store without stopping for milk to make the mac-n-cheese.

    2. Hubby  drives back to the store to get the milk.

    2.  He gets home home, oh, we don't even have mac and cheese anymore...so I drive down the hill to get the mac and cheese.

    3.  I get home, oh-what? We need butter for mac and cheese? I haven't made this forever. I forgot. Go to the store again.

    Finally!!

It did taste really good though. The best ever, we all agreed.

I forgot my groceries at the store once.  Walked right out, left the bag there (had the receipt though!).  Came back, they had restocked the groceries.  Grabbed everything again, went to the counter to show my receipt and take them home.  Get home and realize I left the 2 gallon milk jug at the customer service counter.  I never went back for it.  I was too embarassed!

I've got it bad.  This weekend I went to Babies R Us with my parents and my husband.  I drove, parked the car and we went it.  I think we were there for half an hour and my husband asked me for the car keys.  I couldn't find them.  Turned out, I left the car running in the parking spot!  Doh!

When I went to my monthly appointment with my OBGYN yesterday, I had to pee so bad AND was so forgetful that I forgot to pee in the cup. I was so embarrassed when I had to tell the nurse.

One of my coworkers is about 5 months along now, but about a month ago I asked her to drop off a check at another business. She went directly there and came directly back to the office.

About an hour later, a rep from the business stopped by to pick up the check (he hadn't been told it was dropped off.) I told him "So and so dropped it off about an hour ago." She was sitting next to me when I told him this and goes "I never went there!" I kept trying to reminder her that yes, she did indeed just drive there, and it literally took her about 10 minutes to remember. She swore up and down that she hadn't left the office all day and that I must be crazy. It was hilarious.

If it makes you feel any better, I think we can all relate to this, pregnant or not!! Yesterday I was at the milk/sugar counter at Starbucks and I watched a lady pour some milk out of the jug directly into the trash. I looked at her thinking something was wrong with the milk, and she sorta startled and realized what she was doing- she meant to be pouring it into her coffee!! She was like "oh my god-- clearly I really need this coffee!!" It was really funny. I have also had my fair share of moments like this and I've not yet been pregnant. I am sure when I am, I will do many totally ridiculous things. It's ok, it all makes for good stories, as long as everyone stays safe!!

This happened to my SIL when she was pregnant...

She went to Tim Hortons (Canadian!), got out of her car to go in, got up the counter and realized she forgot her wallet in the car. So she went out to get it, something distracted her when she got back to the car, she went back into Tim's and realized she forgot her wallet AGAIN. So after that she decided to go through the drive thru because she was pretty embarrased :-)

@futuremrslerman: OMG, I just did that last weekend!  (Kind of)  I left my car keys IN THE IGNITION ALL WEEKEND!  Come Monday I'm searching high and low and can't find them.  I just grab the spares and head to the car.  And there are the keys!  In my unlocked car.  Yeah, can't believe no one stole the car.  They probably figured it must not run!

PS-My secret fear is that one of these days I will forget the baby at daycare.  I know it's going to happen one of these days!

Thanks guys- I knew I could count on you to make me feel better. Its nice to know its not just me. I talked to my mom yesterday about this and she said she didn't recall things like this happening and that anyone who said it was normal was probably just trying to make me feel better. That totally made me feel worse. I've started doing little things to help myself out like today I left my cell phone, shoes, and anything else going home all together in a very visible spot all day.

LOL, your mom "doesn't remember" it happening.  Could be she has permanent baby brain??  I think every single pregnancy book I own says that being pregnant will have an effect on your short term memory (whether from hormones, lack of sleep, or constantly worrying about the baby and not your day-to-day tasks).  It's most certainly within the realm of "normal."  I actually find it amusing that your mom is claiming this never happened to her!

I cooked a frozen pizza with the round cardboard disc still attached.  Needless to say, it didn't cook properly and had to go back in the oven.

I'm pretty sure we all have these moments.  Your mom has perhaps selectively forgotten them. ;)

Lol very true guys! I told her she probably forgot because she's old (she's not- she's only51) I also told her that if everyone else was telling me these things to make me feel better she probably should too!
