Calling all pregnant/mama bees! We’ve all heard the old wives tale of food cravings – if you crave salty/savory foods you are having a boy, if you crave sweet foods you are having a girl. So was this true for you?
Even if you don’t know the gender, share your cravings and what you think you are having!
(I would add a poll – but I can’t add one that lets you pick more than 1 answer)

That’s interesting! I am only 6 weeks but not craving anything sweet. Just salty and savory stuff.
The MS is starting to kick in so that is putting a damper on things! But I am not complaining, it took me over a year to get here!! LOL. 😉

OOO good thread! My Darling Husband says he has a feeling it’s twins… and i’ve been craving cheese sticks, onion rings, Tomato based sauces, chocolate dipped orange rind and mint chocolate chip ice cream. I’m only 5w6d and made Darling Husband go to a drivethru at 9pm last night for my fried goodies! I wont find out how many babies, or confirm pregnancy at the Dr. until I’m almost 9weeks!

I’m totally craving sweet things (but I kind of had a sweet tooth prior to pregnancy) – but I’m team green and won’t find out until January if it’s a boy or girl! Both Darling Husband and I suspect it’s a girl though… can’t wait!!

What does it mean when you crave both?? Last time I craved pineapple and watermelon, but also pickles and cheese grits. I had a girl. This time … well, this time I don’t crave anything yet. I’m still in the aversions stage, although I will say I have more aversions to savory things than sweet.

MrsBaldEagle: Im 29 weeks and team green. Some days i crave sugar and lots of it, other days I crave so much salt (McDonalds french fries anyone? lol). I guess that would mean I’m having twins, but I’m not.

MrsBaldEagle: I crave both sweet and salty things- and I am having a boy.
My first pregnancy (also a boy), I think I leaned towards salty things.
I was convinced this baby was a girl- I had intense food aversions my first trimester, some major MS (but no vomiting)– and it felt so different than my first pregnancy! I was shocked it was a boy….but I’m also very excited.
Sometime I crave sweet and salty at the same time– french fried and a chocolate malt, please!!
No matter which way you roll the dice, many of the old wives tales will fit the correct gender in many pregnancies– but I honeslty don’t think there is any sure-fire way to tell gender before scan. Like I said- I was SO sirprised to find out it was a boy- and with my first son, I knew he was a boy – and of course he was.

stillme: MrsA1222: I dont know what it means when you crave both! Too bad we dont know any of these “old wives”. LOL!
E_Lynne615: I love my sweets too! I’m only 5w5d pregnant – and I havent had any desire for sweets lately! I didnt even want a piece of this delicious cake my mom makes!
MrsEME: I dont think old wives tales are always accurate- but I think they are fun! Crazy how your pregnancies were so different, but the same gender!

MrsBaldEagle: Well, I was a hungry hungry hippo the whole time I was pregnant. I craved FOOD. But the things I wanted the most were watermelon, lemons, oranges, green grapes, chocolate milk, ice, wasabi, soy sauce, sushi, toast with lots of butter and honey, a fancy bacon burger from a specific restaurant, and cheese. So on the whole I’d say SWEET and I had a baby BOY!

I craved both salty and sweet foods right up until 26 weeks and never really had any certain cravings. All old midwive’s tales pointed towards boy, but to our surprise we found out at 20 weeks we are having a girl! Tomorrow I will be 32 weeks, and I crave cereal, donuts, and anything with peanut butter….so still a mix of sweet and salty.

I love old wives tales!!! We haven’t found out what were having yet but I’m 17 weeks pregnant. I don’t really have many cravings. I picked up some chips and dip last week and I HATE chips! I have also been eating a ton of apples. I have celiac so I have always had cravings for things I can’t eat, so my fried chicken craving is just always there haha.
