I'm at 29 weeks & just clocked in at just over 30 lbs weight gain. Doc does NOT seem to be concerned (even enthusiastic about how my pregnancy is going), pregnancy has been remarkably easy (no nausea or morning sickness, no complications, all measurements of baby & me totally normal, including glucose test) & I got pregnant LITERALLY right after we got married when I was at my best weight & body shape since high school/college. If the Doc's not worried, I'm not going to add any anxiety to my plate. But definitely looks like I'll be over the 35 lbs mark.
not pregnant yet but ive a feeling im going to be one of thos people that balloon when i get pregnant... im 5'1" and the boy is 6'3", and i eat more than him most days:P that being said im about 10lbs heavier than id like to be at the moment but im working on getting it off, along with giving up smoking, wish me luck:)
I gained 20 and 21 Lbs respectively. My sister gained between 50~60 with each of her 3. I know someone who had a 9 lb. baby and only gained 10 lbs. Everyone hated her. :P
My mom said she gained a little over 50 with me (my friend gained 50 with hers)! But she's always telling pregnant ladies they're eating for two and to eat whatever they want because the baby craves it.
not pregnant but when my mom was pregnant with me and my sister (im a twin) she gained 30 lbs!!! She only carried for 7 months though.
I'm at 37.5 weeks and 28 lbs. I optimistically voted for around 30. Slightly more than I thought I'd gain but I haven't been bothered by the scale at all (despite seeing multiple numbers in the "tens place" that I've never seen before). :)
I'm at 33 weeks tomorrow and from pre-pregnancy weight, I've gained 14 lbs. But if you count that I lost 10 lbs to begin with and then gained it back plus the 14 lbs, that puts me at a total gain to date of 24 lbs. I voted for a total of 30 lbs to be conservative.
I'm 5'10". I was a little overweight (but very muscular), and my doc told me 25-35. I gained 37 and was only 5 days early. I don't count any weight I lost in the first tri. Baby was 8 lbs 8 ozs and very healthy. (Neither of us had any blood sugar issues, etc.)
I gained 17 pounds with my daughter and 17 pounds with my son. Lost all of it a week after both were born. I anticipate the 17 pound trend when we TTC our next in like a year or so.
My mother gained SIXTY pounds when she was pregnant with me. I came out healthy. She lost all the weight. Just because you're not in the expected range doesn't mean that it's bad :-)
This is one of the things I'm looking forward to about our next appt on Monday - I never pay attention to the number on the scale (do we have a scale???) and I want to find out how much I've gained since I got pregnant and find out what the doctor thinks. I was overweight when I got pregnant and I don't feel like my body has changed much aside from the growing belly but this is one way to find out. I'm also not sure what the weight gain should be for twins. It's definitely not double what a single pregnancy should be but I think it's slightly higher. Another question for the doctor!
I'm 30 weeks and I've gained 22 lbs. I started out right at 100lbs though, so I really didn't think I would gain over 30. Gaining weight still sucks though no matter if it's 5, 10, or 20lbs. I hate hearing people comment on my weight.
I gained 30 pounds in 3 months before I miscarried. This time around I'm 12 weeks today and only gained a pound. Thank god!
At my last apt, when I was 28+ weeks, I had gained 19lbs. I go in Monday for my next apt, and I'm hoping that my weight gain from holiday eating has slowed since I've been doing better with my diet.
i gained 40lbs and I'm at 40 weeks. I got concerned I was a little higher than average about midway but nothing ever slowed. Slow and steady, I guess. Doc has never mentioned it and all things measured, have been fine.
Still yesterday, something I never ever did before, I found myself checking out a newborn's mom (in the parking lot) to see how big she was, estimating how many weeks it's been since she's had the baby and thinking enviously, "She's shrunk back already-that Skinny Mini!" Then, thinking, well, maybe that's the aunty. (Probably not!)
I think about the work(ing out) I have to do after DD is born and then groan in the dilemma of --should I make the best of it now (only 1 week more to go) and have the cheesecake or deny myself. :)
I was really small (read: unhealthily thin & struggling with ED) when I got pregnant, so I gained more than what is 'typical' because I had to get to a healthy weight first.
I gained just under 50lbs -- however, lots of people commented on how 'small' I was for a pregnant lady.
I didn't gain much weight, and although I was really worried about it at the time, now I feel fine with my weight gain. As long as you're eating healthy and getting a little exercise your body will put on the weight it needs to grow a baby; no more, no less!
I am 33 weeks pregnant right now and I've gained 29 pounds so far. I had a really big jump between doctor appointments at one point (7 pounds in 3.5 weeks) and she told me that as long as I didn't have another big jump like that it would be good. I started being a little more mindful of what I ate and now I'm holding steady at 1 pound a week, which they say is normal and my doctor said is "perfect".
I started at 128 pounds so I'm really hoping 7 months will be long enough to lose the baby weight and get back into shape, hopefully around the 125 mark :)
I'm at 26 weeks and i've gained 20 lbs so far. At first i wasn't really gaining that much at all (maybe about 6 lbs by 19 weeks) and then all of the sudden the scale jumped up. My doula pointed out to me that even though they say a pound or so a week of weight gain, your gain isn't going to be linear, so you might gain a bunch one week and then not as much the next. i guesstimated that I'll probably gain 30 lbs in total, but you never know! I agree that if you are eating healthy and exercising, then your body will gain what it needs to gain.
I'm at 26 weeks and have gained 13 lbs so far. I'm hoping to end up around 25 lbs but we will see. I hadn't gained much weight until going from month 5-6 where I gained 8 lbs. I wasn't over eating or anything that month, just my body gaining what it needed to. Since that appointment I'm back to not really gaining much. Your body will do what it has to do so the best thing is just to let it.
I'm almost 28 weeks and I've gained about 16 pounds. But I was about 15 pounds overweight to begin with, so I'm hoping I'll gain less....
@808bride: Re: wondering if it's the baby's aunt, I know that's going to happen with my sister... she is super excited to become an aunt, and she's a total skinny-minny, so I can just see her walking around with my kid and other people thinking "no way did she just give birth X weeks ago!"
I'm 25 weeks and have gained 9lbs so far...
I'm hoping to fit that 25/30lb category but we'll see :) Healthy so far!
I gained 50 with my son, however ALOT of that was water weight. I was so swollen that my sister was rubbing my feet while I was in labor and it was leaving major dents in the tops of my feet. My son is 2 1/2 now and I still have that stubborn 10 lbs that just won't go away but honestly, I think he was pretty worth it.
@808bride: I had the OPPOSITE problem.. I went to go visit my SIL and BIL after they had given birth to twins (we're talking next day) and I think at that point SIL was still recovering from the c section the night before and therefore hadn't seen the babies yet.
I walk in with my boyfriend (now DH), MIL, and BIL, and the nurse turns to me and goes "oh you look GREAT for just having given birth!" (I'm 5'3'' and in the 180's) - I was flabbergasted. Combined with earlier in the week having met MIL's church people who knew that MIL had a DIL expecting twins. SEVERAL people came up to me and compliment me on how well I was carrying them... (have NEVER been pregnant)
grrr.. I wish I could say I lost weight, but really I just stopped hanging out in NICU's
I'm not pregnant yet, but I voted based on my sister. She has 2 kids, she gained about 20 pounds each pregnancy.
Umm gained 50 with the first took 2 years to lose. Gained 50 with the second working hard to lose it for wedding it has been 8 months and I have lost a little 35 so far. I just blow up when pregnant even when throwing up day after day!

The great post by Nachos about stupid people got me thinking, how much weight did you actually gain by the end of your pregnancy? I know the a lot of people are told between 25-35lbs if they were a healthy weight to begin with, but what do mama's REALLY gain? I'm also making this a poll to respect the privacy of those who don't want to actually post it.
I'm only at 24 weeks and I've already gained 22lbs, so I'm sure I'll go over the 35lb mark, but I figure that since I'm not eating for two or anything crazy my body will just gain what it feels it needs to gain.
