Pregnancy tests can have false negatives, but not false positives. 3 tests all positive = you’re pregnant

FutureDrAtkins:  That is not always true. Some people get false postive test all the time. Sometime when it does occur it is called a chemical pregnancy. Have you heard about the story about this guy who took a pregnancy test and it was postive. It wasn’t postive because he was pregnant no it was postive because he had early signs of cancer.

So op if you do have a postive pregnancy test call your obgy to get a blood test done to confirm it but I wait to test again one week after your miss period just in case because you will get a more accurate result that way.

Bored6:  Yes, I’ve heard of a chemical pregnancy. Pregnancy tests look for hCG. If hCG is present, then there is a fertilized egg. The only way a man can test positive is if he has testicular cancer, because in certain cases he can also produce the hCG hormone.

Bored6:    A chemical pregnancy is not a false positive. It means you lost the pregnancy before a heartbeat can be detected.  It’s still pregnancy and not a faulty test.

ZoeCarroll:  Yup I’d say so.

I think the other poster means a test can’t mistakenly detect the pregnancy chemicals. If it detects something its b/c ur body is producing it, period. If ur body is producing pregnancy hormones & u’ve been TTC, it’s likely that ur pregnant.

Good luck!

I’m just saying wait a week after your miss period to test again just in case. It is better to be safe than sorry and get a blood test done. That is the only sure way to determine if you are indeed pregnant.

Bored6:  That man got a false positive because he had testicular cancer, and testicular tumors produce hcg, the hormone that pregnancy tests are designed to detect.

OP, you are either pregnant or you have testicular cancer. What’s that, you don’t have testicles? Then you’re pregnant! Congratulations! 🙂

Sounds like you are probably pregnant! their tests may not be as sensitive which could be the reason they are so faint. Doctors won’t usually see you until after a missed period though, and not all do blood some just do a urine test!

but congrats!!!

You would never get multiple positives that were false. So yes, you are pregnant. A chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage. I had one the cycle before this pregnancy and I got faint positives three days in a row right before my period was due, then my period showed up a day or two late. That doesn’t mean my tests were false, it just means the pregnancy wasn’t viable. That also doesn’t mean that you’re going to have a chemical pregnancy just because your tests are faint, you may have ovulated/implanted later and the hcg just hasn’t built up enough yet to get darker lines. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!! Congrats!
