I take extra folic acid and b12 almost daily and extra iron a few times a week. Of course I cleared all this with my midwife first but that set up really works for me. B12 and folic acid work best with food and iron does not work well with food but I can’t handle pills in an empty stomach so I take the iron between breakfast and lunch.

I’ve been drinking prepackaged protein shakes. The one I take is Premier Protein that I got at Costco.  I feel like I have more energy when I take it and since it gives me 30g of protein (pregnant women need 70g) I don’t feel so bad when I really can’t stomach meat.  It also gives me half my calcium.  It doesn’t have any energy supplements just protein, vitamins and minerals.

@Sunshine09:  +1.  I drank SO.MUCH.WATER.  It was the only thing that helped.

In my first tri I would take a nap whenever I could, if only for 15 minutes. If I drove to work I would go to my car and set the alarm on my phone at lunch.  If I didnt drive (most often) I would find a warm spot on a bench and lean back and close my eyes and set an alarm.  Once I even went to a public library and found a cubicle for 30 minutes.

That and when I felt my most tired I would go for a very short walk outside. The fresh air and getting my blood moving helped a lot.

I don’t know, but I seriously need them. When you get to the insomnia part of things you are pretty awake. Like a zombie though, lol.
