My SIL really appreciated a massage when she was pregnant. She said she could lay on her side and enjoy it still =]. I wouldn't buy her clothes, though...who knows what fits her! I think a nice purse could be a great gift, too. Jewlery, well, that's tough b/c like my SIL said, babies break them. You can't wear them around the baby.
I thinka nything "pampering' Is good b/c likely she's so worried about saving for baby she's not splurging on herself =]
A gift card for a pregnancy massage.. or a gift card for a drug store for practical things like diapers..
Forgot to mention - she doesn't like massages! I'd really like to get her something that just for her - the baby will get lots of stuff after he/she arrives but pre-baby I want to focus on her.
Thank you so much for your suggestions!
if she doesn't like massages, how about something else at the spa? like a facial or a mani/pedi?
my sister is pregnant and for christmas i am hoping to buy her a "matt and nat" purse because i know she's always wanted one, and i really want to get something just for her, not the baby!! you're right, the baby will get loads of attention!
I was gonna suggest a mani/pedi too! I had a fried insist on having them done regularly in the weeks before she gave birth. Her theory is that she felt that she looked like a mess (she really did) and that she'd feel gross while in labor and the days in the hospital, also that pictures would be taken and she liked the idea that at least something was well taken care of. Your friend might not be as silly (lol, just kidding) but most women love mani' and pedi's but may not wanna spend the money when saving for a baby.
I vote for some really nice looking scrubbies...
okay, maybe no one but me calls them scrubbies. :)
you know, sweat-ish pants and tanks or whatever you wear to lounge around the house. Only, get her ones that are pretty, so after the baby is born, she'll have something she can be comfy in while adjusting to being a mom, but still feel like a woman, despite suddenly not sleeping, having time to shower, and having whatever leftover weight is going on, not to mention lactation, etc. and all the other 'joys' that accompany new motherhood.
How great would a gift basket of all sorts of maternity things be? Some cute maternity pajamas, slippers, some luxurious bath products and belly cream, maybe even some comfort food! A gift certificate for a cleaning company or a company that makes prepared dinners might also be nice.

Hi ladies
I'm 3000 miles from my closest friend and she's expecting her first baby in early January. I'd like to send her a package for her birthday (and for her pregnancy too) but I'm not sure what to send. A cute maternity top? Jewelry? Chocolates?
If anyone has good ideas please share!
Thanks!
