I posted about this in the pregnancy section, but maybe some of you athletic types might have some ideas too…
The short of it is, we are going on a cycling trip and I’m pregnant and I don’t know what kind of things are safe to eat…we will be roughing it, no fridge, just little gas burner…normally we eat dried sausage etc, but this is not allowed when pregnant. Ideas? Thanks! 🙂

FrenchNewlyWed: How long is the trip? If its a day trip just get some trail mix, apples, bananas, protein bars..

It’s 2 weeks…1,200 km approx! However, it’s in a very civilized area of France with regular acces to markets, restaurants and grocery stores.

FrenchNewlyWed: How far along will you be when you are doing the trip? If you are only a few weeks along then dried fruits, nuts, protein bars, fresh fruit etc will be fine to keep you going throughout the day. I would make sure you have a heartly breakfast like oatmeal and eggs in the morning, and a solid dinner with chicken and rice/potatoes and vegetables in the evening though and try to have a few more breaks throughout the day than you normally would as you might find that you get tired faster.
Also, it is super important that you have loads of fluids and that you take your prenatal vitamins, especially if you are still in the first trimester. Another thing to keep in mind is that you should not get too hot or short of breath when your are pregnant (especially in the first trimester) so you might have to take it a bit easier than normal because of that too.
