My husband and I are thinking of TTC next year, but I will be beginning my second year as a wedding photographer. I’m still very much building my business and I’m worried a bride might decide not to book me if I’m pregnant. I won’t (hopefully) be pregnant during the busiest part of my wedding season next year, but I might possibly be a couple months pregnant at my October weddings and when I’m doing the bulk of my booking.
How should I handle this? How have other bees who do seasonal things handle pregnancy? I know I can still do my job pregnant, I am just worried it will ruin a business I’m trying to build!

I would have no issues hiring a pregnant photographer. It might get iffier in the last few months, I have seen stories on the boards about photographers cancelling in the few weeks before the wedding because of pregnancy issues or birth. I would make a backup plan for anything that you might book in the last few months or just don’t book for those months. Also, have you looked into doing pregnancy photography, I have noticed those popping up all over the place and wish they had something like that years ago when I was pregnant. I would totally trust a pregnant photographer to put me in the best light, so to speak, if she was or had been pregant herself.

Honestly, I would never book a pregnant photographer. I would want someone who is able to commit to doing my wedding, and a pregnant person just wouldn’t fit that bill for me. Maybe you should just take the year off?
