The FI and I were talking kids over the weekend (!). We’re getting married at the end of August and have been together for a long time. We probably won’t be on the TTC bandwagon for at least a year or so, but I’ve heard that it might be good to start taking prenatal vitamins at least a year in advance.
Does anyone have any prenatal vitamins that they’d like to recommend? I’m going to see my OB/GYN in a week or so, but I figured I’d ask the Hive about their experiences.

I just started the Target Brand with a DHA supplement and have to say they’re awesome! I was given samples by my doctor and they all made me feel horrible. These ones make me feel great.
Good luck on your exciting journey!

I’m taking the same ones as @nskillet. Love them! I did have an issue of them making me nauseous at first, but I started taking them at night and haven’t had an issue since.

I did what nskillet did, I got the Target brand. In fact, that was what my doctor recommended doing. You might not want a prescription right away. When you’re pregnant (at least this was my experience) they’ll prescribe a prenatal for you that will be much more expensive than the store bought. Mine are $40 a month, seems like a lot to me!

Right now I am using the Kroger brand, because the nurse I saw at my confirmation sisn’t really mention much about what she reccomended I take. So far, those have been fine and they haven’t made me sick.

I haven’t been to the doctor/had any recommended to me yet but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I got some from pregnant and I’ve been using those. They’re the gummy ones…I feel like I’m 5 every time I take them bnut they haven’t caused me any problems.

I take vitafusion prenatal gummies because I like gummy vitamins. 🙂
When I was pregnant my doctor had me on some prescription prenatals that had extra iron because I run a bit anemic. I forget what they were called but they were large and purple.
When I’m pregnant next time I’ll probably do gummy vitamins with a separate iron supplement.

@cannon: I take those too. I take their calcium supplement too. I’m going to have to add in iron when I get pregnant because the gummies don’t have it. I may switch to Flintstones at that time. Either way, gummy vitamins are popular in our house. My husband now takes gummies since he hates horse pills.

Has anyone tried a brand called Rainbow? It was recommended..so I thought I’d check here how it is.
Right now I’m on Raw-Vitamin Code (Garden of Life) from a popular health food store. (They $30 if anyones wondering) They have probiotics and ginger etc…
The only thing I don’t like about it, is they are 3 dose. I’ve heard that’s good, but since I’m not prego at the moment; I think one dose would be better right?
EDIT: Would prescription be better than Vitamin Code (if any Mommies know)?

My doctor is fine with me taking the VitaFusion gummies, in fact his wife is pregnant and he said that is what she takes. I figure if it is good enough for his wife and kid to be, it is good enough for me… plus the gummies are pretty good.

I’ve actually been taking the VitaFusion gummies too. I’m waiting to see if my dr. wants me to take an iron supplement as well.
