I have been having issues with my prenatal vitamin because of the iron content. I was at my dr appt last week and he recommended me taking a Folic Acid 800mcg supplement and any Multi-vitamin. Most of the Multi-vitamins I’ve found still have high iron content as well. Is there a prenatal that you can recommend that does not have Iron in it?

I’m actually taking one right now with no iron in it. I have a hard time swallowing pills so I take gummy prenatal vitamins by vitafusion. They taste just like candy! You can get them at any pharmacy (I got mine at walmart). They cost $12 for 90 gummies and you take 2 a day.

GNC makes a prenatal formula without iron, although I have been using their version with iron and haven’t had any problems.

I’ve been taking these: http://www.drugstore.com/qxp261672/vitafusion/prenatal_gummy_vitamins_berry_lemon_and_cherry.htm?aid=337953&aparam=vitafusion_prenatal_gumm&CAWELAID=496086465
which looks like the same ones that jewishbride is taking also. i was actually surprised that they didn’t have any iron since iron is an important thing to have while pregnant. I’ve also heard that you can take 2 Flinstone complete (chewables) when you are pregnant/ttc. Maybe doing that but taking 1 in the morning and 1 at night might be easier on your stomach?
also, those gummy ones don’t contain calcium either so if you think you might not be getting enough of that in your diet, they might not be the best choice.

I don’t have a tummy issue with pre-natals with iron, but my body also doesn’t absorb the iron so I end up peeing it out and it looks like blood. Talk about scary!
My doc rec’s taking Folic Acid tabs along with a normal multivitamin. I’m sure that I’ll end up getting iron shots or something down the road. The folic acid tabs don’t upset my tummy either.
