I didn't purchase one pre-owned but I'm hoping to sell mine. I've been considering ebay, www.preownedweddingdresses.com and www.oncewed.com. And of course, check out the classified section here on Weddingbee!!
I'd suggest going to a bridal store or two and trying on dresses so you know what you like. There are so many choices when it comes to fabric, color, shape, etc. Once you know what you like (and don't like) it'll be easier to narrow down your choices. And you can get an idea of what size you need and what your measurements are. Then check out the aforementioned websites to see if they have the styles and designers you're looking for. Best of luck to you!
For her wedding, my sister purchased a store sample. Not really the same thing, but she did get a great deal! Are you looking for a particular style?
I'm wearing a vintage dress, so it was certainly pre-owned! I found it online and anticipated that it would not fit me/need LOTS of alterations, but I was so wrong! It fit like a glove. I think I won the wedding dress lottery :)
I bought mine on ebay from a former bride. I'm now considering selling it again as well.
I didn't buy a preowned dress, but I bought a preowned mantilla veil. Its in transit now, I found it one this site and we did the payment through paypal. It was pretty easy!
I bought mine on here, in the classifieds section!! :)
It was bought as a sample, but never worn or altered - still had the tags. She just changed her mind about what type she wanted. I love it! I go in for my first alterations fitting on Saturday!
I just contacted her on here, we answered/asked questions back and forth, she sent as many pics as my heart desired, and I took the plunge and paid via paypal, and she shipped it that day!
No idea what I want yet, but saw some I liked on preowned.com. I'm probably going to go for my first shopping trip in October but I figure, why not see if I can find it preowned?
I went to a bridal salon and tried on a bunch of different things. I didn't fall in love with anything, but found some acceptable dresses. Then I had lunch with mom & sister before we headed to a Brides Against Breast Cancer event. I'm not 100% sure if my dress was pre-owned or not, but I like it (not in love with it, but I didn't expect to be in love with any dress), it's flattering, and barely needs any alterations. Plus, it was a great price and I know proceeds are to go to women with Stage IV breast cancer. It was great to be able to try on dresses that were the right size!
I bought mine through Bravobride.com I had tried it on before and so knew I wanted that particular dress. I paid through Paypal in it arrived exactly when it was supposed to. The bride even included a sweet card and wants a picture of me in the dress from the wedding. I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend it. Just be smart and if something doesn't feel right, don't go through with it.

Has anyone had luck purchasing a preowned dress? If so, how did you go about the process?
