People think I’m nuts for starting this early, but my move isn’t coming until right before the wedding (FI and I live about 17 hrs apart)… so I’m trying to get as much as possible done, now, so I won’t have to worry about it when I’m in the process of moving :-S

Good luck with your move(s)!!! It sounds like you’ve got a really great start :o)

Horray for preplanning the planning!!

I think you could start writing out your checklist- if you google “wedding checklist” you can see a template and then make your own based on that-

divide duties by each month before the wedding.

And you start researching dress styles, photos of centerpieces you like, etc…

Sorry I’m not an August 2012 bride, but I love talking about organizing! πŸ™‚

People say not to plan to early bc your taste or vendor packages could change so much in a year or so. But I am a planner so I know exactly how you feel!! It always feels better to be on top of things then behind in the tasks that need to be done.

I have most of my wedding planned out but im DIY a large portion of it. So id rather be able to take my time on my project than have to rush them… But I am having a hard time getting my mom to dig out all her mason jars… She keeps telling me i have plenty of time, and I keep telling her i just want to get it out of the way…

You think she would be happy to get them out of her garage…

I have! We both have crazy schedules right now with working and school that will continue to be hectic up to the day. I’m a total psycho planner to begin with but honestly, I feel like 6 months out, we will WISH we had done more work and pre-planning at this point. Some of our minor decisions (colors, “feel” of the wedding, etc.) have changed already, but so what? At least we had ideas to work with and refine until we get them where we want.

I just want to get as much as possible done so that way I am not trying to get everything done last minute… Some people look at me like im crazy when I tell them that the wedding is next august but seriously I want to have all my vendors booked and under contract by august lol…

*raises hand* i may be the worst one of all, our wedding is dec. 20 2014 and i have a good chunk of it planned…my “logic” is that the big stuff, venue, church photographer etc. tends to book up 2 years in advance where we live, glad to see im not the only…um organized one πŸ˜›

I make lists of my lists! Seriously, I’m practically OCD about planning things; menus, camping trips, special occaissions are no exception and because I am a very non-crafty gal planning a DIY wedding…well, starting now seems right.

Getting married in the Pacific Northwest and hoping for a somewhat rustic, outdoor affair- super excited!!
