An A1C of 6.0 is not bad! I’m not diabetic myself but am in the medical field and have worked OB – of course it’s more work to keep your sugars under control during pregnancy, but 100% you can carry a baby to term. Keep up the good work! Did your OB seem concerned?

@ashleyr0512:  Ah okay! While 8.0 is outside of what typically is the normal/desired range for pregnancy (and generally), you still have the ability to bring it under control. It may mean testing your blood sugar more often, and talking to your OB or whoever follows you for your diabetes to find some good strategies.

@ashleyr0512:  I’ve been Diabetic for 24 years now and have successfully carried 2 lovely boys!  They are now 8 & 9.  I will say that it wasn’t easy, I’ve never been able to keep my sugars under control.  Not even when my parents controlled what I ate as a child.  Both my boys were on the bigger side, especially number 2.  He was induced at 5 weeks early due to unrelated complications and he weighed 8lbs 3 oz already!  They both also had to stay in the NICU, because my blood sugars were high throughout the pregnancies.  5 days and 9 days respectively.  Just do your best to keep your sugars down and you should be fine!  Congrats mama!
