Okay so Boyfriend or Best Friend and I aren’t engaged yet but we talk about our future plans quite often. I guess you can say we’re “engaged to be engaged.” This is good enough for me. As long as we’re on the same page and moving foward, I’m willing to wait for the proposal.
My mom, however, keeps griping about there not being a ring on my finger yet. She says I must be “doing something wrong.” She said that in front of my Boyfriend or Best Friend By The Way. I’ve been with my Boyfriend or Best Friend for 3.5 years for crying out loud! She keeps comparing me to her and my younger sister; mom got married after 3 months (of even knowing my step dad) and sister married at 20, after meeting the guy 6 months before. She cries about my Boyfriend or Best Friend stringing me along and she’ll be 6 feet under by the time I’m married (she’s 43!!). With her pressuring us, this is actually making it worse. He’s not going to propose anytime soon if this lady keeps pressuring him :/
Are there any bees out there that have the same problem? How did you deal? Everytime I have this conversation with my mom, I get very defensive and end up hurting her feelings–not intentionally of course. Then we don’t talk for like a week.
