You may want to check out Edwardian Script or Easy Street.  I think the ampersand of these two, very similar fonts are beautiful.

English something is beautiful.  I’m at work right now and we have the most BASIC fonts on these computers.  At home on my XP PC, Windows has this English font standard.  The ampersand is absolutely beautiful (I went through the same search you did)!

I’m a big fan of the ampersands for the Porcelain and Multi Ornamental Fonts on http://www.dafont.com.  They’re Calligraphy style fonts under the Script header.  They’re zip files that you can download for free, which is always nice!

Ugh, I’m so sorry to sound so dense!  I’m going to double check what it’s called when I get home tonight and repost.  I know it’s called English…(something), but that’s all I can remember!

I’m working on my invites right now and I’m finding it really hard to find a Ampersand that is exactly what I want.  I am using Edwardian Script,  but I find that the ampersand has a little bit too much "flourish" for what I need… the search continues.   Let me know what you end up using! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ok, I don’t want to seem like I’m just posting for business, but since I work for a type foundry….p22.com has a typecaster where you can try out all the fonts, including the & . I don’t want you to spend $20 on a font when all you want is one character, but you can go through all the fonts and maybe you’ll find one you need for something else, but you can use it now as well. We even have a font just of ampersands- Goudy Aries’ Ampersands

You could always look in digital scrapbooking sites – they sometimes sell sets of extras like that. The come in pdf files and are easy to use, you can find free stuff and buy things but what you’re looking for would be only a few dollars. I got the flourishs for my invites on http://www.designerdigitals.com/

good luck! I find lots of nifty things on here!!!!
