thats awesome! i never even considered doing uplighting bc i thought it woudld be $$ but this might be totally do-able!
About how far up the wall does the light go? Wondering how they would work in a taller room
I think this looks great! Even if they don't go very high up the wall, for that price you can get a ton of them!
@katieemarie If you tilt them straight up, they go pretty far up the wall. Here's a picture to demonstrate:

I have this cellophane http://bit.ly/aJqVtw on the way to see how well I can make some makeshift "gels". I'll let you all know how it goes.
OMG! This is EXACTLY what I needed! I've been looking for an inexpensive way to add light to our reception venue and THIS IS IT! Thanks a MILLION!
Awesome Johnitta!
The only crappy thing is that Amazon will only let you order 3 sets of 3. Easily solved by getting your BM, FI, FILS, parents, and anybody else you can find to order 3 sets of 3 as well. (This is how I got all the pieces necessary for my wedding favors. :D)
Ejoyb- Question: My reception venue is an extremely large conference room and has extremely high ceilings. I'm not trying to high up the entire wall, but I would like the lighting to go up to about 6-8 feet. Would these lights work?
The walls in the picture on post #9 in the thread are 8'8" so I think you should be ok. :)
thank you so much for posting!
u just gave me a great idea to buy these instead of paying to "pin light" centerpieces!!
I used the only transparent colored thing I had in a pinch:

:) I have one in pink and one in green so those are the colors you see. Today I'm going to go to the Teachers Supply store to buy a couple sheets of cellophane and experiment with colors. I have a multipack of cellophane sheets on the way but I'm impatient.
Thank YOU!! I have been trying to look for some without breaking the bank of course. Thanks. :)
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I am ordering some now.
And just an FYI for anyone ordering them, you can purchase more than 3! When you view your cart you can adjust the quantity to more, or you can go back to the product info page and click add to cart again.
Worked for me, I just ordered 6 sets (18 lights total) for $36...which is less than just 1 light from the decor company I had been talking to!!!!
oh i take back my last post. I tried to check out and it made me go back and limit the number i could buy to 3...bummer
Warning: These lights are NOT super bright when they have to contend with daylight. If you're having a daytime wedding in a well-lit venue, I am not sure how much benefit they would be for you.
Very nice! I've been looking for cheap yet efficient lighting. Thank you so much!
Now $19 =(
I can't believe I missed these. They would have been perfect at $2 each, but at $19 for 3 I need too many. =( Anyone wanna sell me thiers when they are done?
Any idea how the long the batteries last?
Thanks so much for posting this! I managed to get them before the price went up. Should be here any day now (although our wedding isn't for almost a year and a half). I'm thinking about possibly using them to spotlight our cake. We'll see.
For those who missed the cheap ones at Amazon, they are $7.57 for three at this link.
I'm SO bummed I had these in my cart twice, but was looking for $7 more in stuff from Amazon to get the free shipping! The link listed by 2dBride says minimum $100 order!
I plan to use this link to buy about $100 bucks worth of lights! If anyone is interested, I will sell some of the lights to you at cost! (Just let me know what you need.)
If anyone that ordered these would like to sell them when they are done - let me know. I would DEFINITELY buy them from you!
Thanks ejoy! Mine just came in the mail and I couldn't be happier with them. Luckily I got them at the $6 price. I only ordered 9 total though so I doubt that's enough for you ladies looking for some second hand.
@Talishazwi - I would be interested in the 9 you have! PM me!
I have 3 packages that we never used. PM me if your interested in them. I opened one to try it out. They worked great but we just never ended up using them. I even have purple cellophane i bought to use with them.
@Timiny- I'm interested in the 3 packages and the cellophane. PM me!!
@lalalandTN - someone else already pm'd about them but if they don't want them I will let you know next.

In my quest for DIY lighting options (sorry, not spending $1000 on uplights), I bought some LED spotlights from Amazon (you can find them here: http://bit.ly/aK2FNg). Since they were 3 for $6, I expected them to be crappy. I was pleasantly surprised to find them to be pretty decent, putting out more light than my $25 Canspot. They also rotate and swivel so the light can be directed where you want it. See for yourself: http://picasaweb.google.com/EricasJoys/MoreLightingTests#
Edit: Hmmm can't embed the slideshow so just putting the link to the pictures.
