So the SO has been planning to ask my dad while we visit for Christmas…and he and my dad went out on a grocery shopping run together. They came back super friendly and cheerful. I’m pretty sure he asked but my boyfriend is now being super cryptic about whether or not he asked him. By the way the two of them were acting, I’m pretty sure that he did. Eek!
So now begins the real wait. I’m super anxious actually! I hope he doesn’t make me wait too long…but I don’t even know if he has a ring yet! And he might have asked now because we only see my parents 1-2 times per year. I’m really hoping for a proposal within the next week or two, but we will see! I’m so excited…I can’t handle it! Aaaah! He can’t make me wait longer than a year now? Right? It can’t be too far away I hope!!! 🙂 How do I contain the excitement and handle the wait ladies?

Sounds promising !!
As for the “he’s being super cryptic” bit… I take it this means you are asking him (maybe even more than once)
Girl, let it be… let it lie.
You need to back off, and let the guy do it in his own time / own way.
Join the SIUP Pact if you need to… and work Mr Bee’s Plan… but you need to back off (if you are asking a lot of Questions etc)
Waiting goes a lot easier, when you try to concentrate on something else…
Enjoy “the moment” for what it is… THIS Christmas… Christmas 2013. Make memories, don’t put yourself in a spot where you look back in time and can only recall JUST the feeling of longing / waiting
It is Engagement Season… US Thanksgiving to Valentines Day
And when a Man has the Green Light (and usually The Ring) they tend to find it “burns a hole in their Pocket”
So chances are good that it will happen in the next 10 days (4 prominent occasions… and Men LOVE Occasions for Proposing… Christmas Eve – Christmas Day – New Years Eve – and New Years Day)…. otherwise it is just a short 7-1/2 Weeks = 53 Days until Valentines)
Hang in there…

@MissAmethyst: ditto PP. I almost runied my Christmas last year thinking it was coming then because we were home with his family instead of where we live now. It happened 3 months later for my Birthday.
Focus on Christmas, focus on what’s happening and ENJOY Christmas. Try to avoid wondering every second if he’s going to do it now!

That’s great!! I’m in a similar scenario only seeing the folks a few times a year. Next is in March and I prayyyyyy it happens then!!! Otherwise… Blah. He refuses to do it over the phone!!

@This Time Round: you’re so right! I did my best to relax (which was easy after my mom let it slip that he had in fact asked my dad!) and I had a wonderful Christmas with my family and him. I’m so happy that he loves me enough to ask my father for his blessing because he knew it was important to me and my family. He’s so introverted and my dad is not an easy man to talk to. Feeling very blessed that he spoke to him and that he intends to marry me. I feel much calmer today and am doing my best to focus on other things and enjoy just spending time with our families and making happy memories 🙂 I know he will ask me when the time is right so I just need to enjoy the moment and stay busy to keep my mind off of it!
