What about a little tissue pom on the boxes? Or even a simple satin ribbon wrapped around with a label on top would be pretty. I think a custom hang tag is a great idea, maybe something that looks like a luggage tag? You could even find fabric flowers and put those on.
I like <span style="text-decoration: underline;">duckling's ideas. Another idea is to use pretty, small scarves to tie around the handles of the bags. You can use your theme's colors for the scarves.
i really like the ribbon around it, but i think if you did the custom tag and turned it into a sticker it would be really cute. you can get them printed and cut at any office supply store and then use a xylon (about 11) to make them into stickers.
You can find a lot of downloadable cards/tags which will cost next to nothing to print. I use them for christmas tags and such all the time.
If you then get some ribbon to match it will look great!
Or, if you want to go with the beachy theme, get some cheap small hand towels in your wedding colors instead of tissue to add a little color to the bag!
You could use the ribbon to hang the handmade tags from the handle. You could wrap/weave the ribbon through both handles and make the tag hang where it is framed on the side of the bag. (I'm thinking the tag would be larger than a typical tag - like 4x6)
Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! Looks like I'll definitely do something with ribbon and custom hang tags. I'll look around for the templates I can print - they were getting so expensive when I was looking to order them.
I'd like to do some coordinating stickers as well -- I'll be buying local fresh baked cookies. I'm going to bring cellophane bags and want to put coordinating ribbon around and sticker on the bag. I'm thinking I'd like the labels to be round. Does anyone know if there are some sort of 'cutters' available to cut round stickers out of sticker stock? I don't trust my hand to be steady enough with scissors, and don't trust my printer to register right for already round stickers. I use a Mac and it seems I can never get items like Avery labels to work right.
And I love the scarf idea! Aruba is super windy! I could use colorful scarves to help dress up the bag handles and then the ladies could use them during the weekend to tie their hair back. =) So much cuter that the elastic headbands I had in mind!
I love the hangtag idea and thr ribbon idea! that sounds so pretty maybe you can paint the initials of you and your fiance in a wedding accent color!

Hey ladies -- the DIY flunky here again.
Just today I received a sample of the bags I want to use for our out of town bags. They are really cute woven palm bags. I'd still like to dress them up a little bit but can't spend a ton. I'm thinking a custom hang tag and maybe a ribbon in our wedding colors? (I was thinking a wide orange grosgrain ribbon maybe 3/4", with a narrow satin pink ribbon on top?) I'm not sure how to attach the ribbon though. I can't weave it through the bag - they're really tight. Any other ideas on how to brighten these up a little? (I plan to use the large bag in the back for the welcome bag, the small bag to the left for the candy buffet, and the boxes for some treats from home.) I want to be able to do the embellishment at home and make sure they'll still be able to pack flat.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions! There are so many creative people here. I SO wish I was one of them.
