Ask in person- they are less likely to be rude to your face and less likely to say no to your face. It is easier to hang up the phone than it is to say no to a person standing in your face.
I second babagrlshell! I get price adjustments, discounts, mark downs all the time simply by showing up, being courteous and smiling when I request something. Often times, they're more than happy to accomodate my request.
Yesterday I bought a sample sale gown at Priscilla of Boston, and the manager gave me an addition $900 off simply because I said I couldn't afford it. I def. think that you could sweet talk your way into it. What do you got to lose?!
I agree with the latter comments, go in person. All they can say is no.
Bearbride...where did you buy your dress? That is an amazing discount!
Bearbride you are my hero! I tried that too, but I guess because I wasn't talking to a manager she probably couldn't make that call. Which dress did you purchase? What store? I bought mine from the Houston store.
Ladies, I agree with you but I don't know if I'll be able to get back to the store between now and the end of tomorrow when the clearance event is over. Even if I could make it, it would be late in the evening. I've only been there in the evening and as far as I can tell, there isn't a manager or much staff present at all. For those reasons I am going to just call as soon as they open today and hope I catch a manager.
I hope this works!
Ok. Just to end the thread, I spoke with the manager at Priscilla of Boston and she said that because my gown is one that they still carry, ie not a discontinued sample, that it would not have been part of the clearance event anyways. I guess I feel ok with that explanation. Thanks for all your help- and bearbride I want to check out your gown!
Tysons Corner, VA! :)

How uncouth would it be for me to ask for a price adjustment on my wedding gown? I only care what they think of me because I've already picked bridesmaid dresses at the same salon and will have to see them for alterations too. I don't know if I'm being greedy, but I bought my Melissa Sweet Lia gown at their sample sale 12 days ago for 50% off. Last Friday, I received an email from Priscilla of Boston saying the already 50% off gowns are being cut an additional 50%!
Had I known that was coming I might have taken my chances and waited to see if it was still around when the prices dropped. So. What do you ladies and your infinite wisdom think? Can I call and say, I want a price adjustment? Will they say no? Do I care? I was actually there again this evening helping a friend shop for her gown but I didn't dare ask in person. Any advice would be greatly appreciated- I'd feel comfortable asking at a non-nationwide chain bridal salon but feel really awkward asking at PB.
