I personally don’t think that to be overpriced at all for 2 shooters.

There have been plenty of bees that wiped that price out of the water b/c who they wanted was more.

You also have to take into consideration that rates are higher in some areas than others.

I paid 500 for ours but he’s a friends from church and was just getting into weddings so he needed the pics for his portfolio… being a friend he threw in a 2nd shooter… another friend from church. We definitely got a steal.. He now charges 2k and up for weddings.

Here’s a link started a few days ago on who paid what for their photog =)

hmm, that sounds like a good deal since you are getting ALL the images with printing rights.  My photographer charges $2500 for up to 8 hours and full printing rights with all the images on DVD as well. BUT there was no e-session in that. She does charge, i think, about $600 for an e-session?  maybe less? I don’t know, i didn’t do one.  And she gave us a deal (reduced fees) on everything because i otherwise could not afford her and she happened to already be booked in Jamaica for another wedding the day after mine.  so anything i paid her was extra cash for her!

Price vary region and state. I can’t speak for what prices are in TN but in North Florida $3,500 gets you a very good photographer. I spent subtantailly less on my photographer but we only had her for 4 hours, no epics, and we will get disk with low resolution images.  I spent countless hours looking for a photographer that matched our budget and we felt had skill beyond just a point an shot.

Would you mind posting her website? People can give opinions on the photographer.

Their photos look gorgeous and it looks like they are pretty reputable… that is definitely a fair, or at least a “typical” price for what they’re offering. Don’t cheap out on the photography, because you’ll regret it later…. I say go for it!

@heatherleah: Mine is pretty close to your amount for the same thing. At first I thought it was a lot too, but it’s actually pretty much right down the middle for photographers in my city. I would ask a few others with similar styles in your city for quotes with the same package and compare to make sure you’re in the right ball park.

I really like the work that they’ve done.

What I really like is that even though you’re going to get an atleast slightly different look (as they each have thier own eye/style) You can’t really tell the differences in who shot the pictures.. they compliment each other very well

And since their husband/wife and have been at this together you can also assume that they work well together, have a system, don’t get in each others ways, ect.

^All things to think about in a 2nd shooter.

I don’t think they’re cost is very reasonable for what they do and if it’s in your budget (or not too far over) I’d say book um!

@heatherleah: Just browising at the photographers blog, it seems that they have a unique style for each couple and their composition is really good. Based on what you have listed your photographer seems well priced for what they are offering.

I priced out several photographers that my venue recommended.

i think this photographer http://adamtrujilloblog.com/ is comparable in style to the photographer you’re looking at.  his packages start at about $3500 and is for only 1 photographer.  it includes an engagment sesssion, disc of images, and a 8×10 print.  his price then goes up to $4750 for two photographers and then goes up again for an art album.

i visited each photographer’s website and ranked them before getting pricing. adam trujillo was at the top of my list.  he turned out to  be cheaper than the other photographers on my venue’s list so i guess i don’t have an eye for expensive photography.

this photographer http://www.orangesodablog.com/ charges between $3900 to $9800 and i initially ranked them as third on my list.

i actually ended up falling in love with http://www.joeyallenphoto.com/ i was very surprised to get his quote.  He was the least expensive (under 1k).  I had to beg my venue to approve him since he wasn’t on their list.

after spending days reviewing photographer’s websites and getting pricing, i found out that quality doesn’t correlate with pricing.  i think some photographers are big names in their markets and you end up paying for it.  a big name photographer isn’t important to me because it’s not like i’m booking annie leibovitz or anything.

i think that you should choose a photographer based on his/her phootgraphic style and then decide if you’re comfortable with their pricing.  also rate them based on their communication with you.  i really loved interacting with Joey Allen and Adam Trujillo.  I spent a lot of time asking questions and they were both very patient with all my questions.  I like to throw in some really off the wall questions to see how a photographer will react.
