Hello Bees! Okay so my fiance and I were discussing how much we should spend on engagement/wedding pics and I thought 2500 was average. He seems to think it’s too pricey but he is a little frugal so I want to know what you all think! Thanks in advance =) BTW we live in Ca

@Firemansgirl: Where in CA are you? $2500 is probably average to below average for wedding coverage AND engagement in most areas of CA.

That was exactly the price of our photographer. $2500 for engagement pics, all day wedding coverage w/ second shooter and rights to all digital images. However, that did not include any printed pictures – we did opt to order an album from here which was another $1000 (ugh I still sounds insane!).

I am jealous of all you bees who had the money to hire a photographer. Mine was my Mom, sister in law and friend. I don’t regret it cuz we have some good ones and I spared that expense.

We are very lucky and a family friend is doing ours for $750. She is charging us half of what the package would cost and throwing in some extras. Very lucky!!

Mine is around $2,000 (more than my FI would spend if it were up to him lol), but I’m okay with it because I LOVE our photographer!

We didn’t want to spend a lot on photography but we wanted great pictures. Our compromise was to book a quality photographer for only half of the day. She will take pictures of us and the bridal party in the afternoon, then cover the ceremony and the first 30 minutes of the reception. That’s 4 hours for just under $1000.

My photographer (in CA) will cost $4500 for the whole package including a wedding album. That’s more than I’m spending on everything else in the wedding combined! Its the only thing I’m picky about. My mom is paying though. If I had to pay for it myself, I would have had my sister do it for free.

$4500 for 10 hours of coverage, all photos on disc, album, 2 parent albums, and some other extras. I’m in DC.

Mine will be $3500. I did find a girl who had okay work for around $1500, but I just couldn’t bring myself to hire her. Great photography is a must have for my fiancé and I so we were willing to up our budget to get exactly what we wanted. Our package includes 8 hours of coverage, two photographers, 200 prints, all digital images and an album. We decided to forgo the engagement shoot because we were able to get it elsewhere for free.

I think 2500 is the lowest package I’ve seen

- Wedding: July 2012 - The Gables Inn, Santa Rosa, CA
I live in Sonoma County (just north of SF) and my photographer was $1,000 for the day– I got a discount but his regular packages are VERY reasonable still. www.blueirisarts.com is his site, if you’re interested, I think they travel all around Nor. Cal.

Thats about an average price.
Also I know albums are a killer.. just to let you know photographers actually pay a hefty price for highend type albums.. We really dont make much off albums at all.
They also take time to build, a nice album that tells a story of your day take hours/days to make. Also not every photographer is good at album layouts.. less is more. Its not so easy and a skill.

Ours is $2300 and it includes two photographers, all-day wedding coverage, album, rights to all pictures, full editing of all of our engagement and wedding pictures, engagement shoot….and I don’t remember what else. Our photographer is amazing and for her work she should charge more! It’s hard to find this price and quality in Miami.

I’m working with one on Cragslist since we couldn’t afford anything over 1K.
