You can really range anywhere from about $50 to over $200 really. I would say average is around $100-$110 though from places I have looked at. It also depends on how many people you are having because a lot of the more expensive places per person are also bigger and want you to guarantee a certain amount - usualy 130 -150. Is there a particular area in the Hudson Valley you are looking in? (Westchester, Dutchess, Catskills, etc.). You have a lot of time to do research and look at a bunch of places so start thinking about a budget and good luck!
I know I have time, but I also have friends who recently got married and I know they booked their places WAY in advance, so I'm getting worried that I'll get blocked out. I'm a worrier, really. And I'm sure I'll relax soon.
I live in the Newburgh area, so I was looking in the immediate area--Orange County, maybe Dutchess or Ulster. I'd rather not go down to Westchester as I know it'll be MUCh more expensive. I was looking at Catlin Gardens--it's so beautiful, and I really would love to get married outside.
Thanks for the help!
It really depends at what kind of place you are considering. Generally, the places I reached out to were right around $100-150 per person, give or take, and they were smaller venues (150 people or less).
Oh--that's the other thing. We'd probably be inviting close to 300 people. We both have ridiculously large families. So that limits our lower-price options quite a bit. I'm betting only 200 or so will come, if that, but again, it's VERY early.
I'm just glad to know that $100 a person isn't really outrageous for this area.
I would look at:
Cantlin Gardens, Patriot Hills, Anthonys Pier 9, Dutchess Manor, The Garrison
for starters anyway. $100 is definately at the lower end of most places in the Hudson Valley
I agree with hjg--the larger places are usually more expensive per plate. It may be a bit of a stretch to keep it at $100 a person, but it may be possible. Just don't forget--everything is negotiable!
I honestly have no problem paying the $100 a plate--if that's the going rate. I was just afraid that they'd see me coming and try to overcharge!

Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to the board, so forgive me if I lack some of the expected etiquette.
I know it's a while away, but we're considering getting married in the summer of 2012 and I honestly just have no idea what the "average" price (per head?) for a reception in the area is? I saw one place that was about $100 a person, and then another that was $60, and both looked perfectly nice, so I'm concerned about getting ripped off. Any advice??
Thanks!
