Have you tried changing the paper settings? At work we have a brother HL-1440 and you can change paper weight setting I have never had any problems on envlope printing with it.
we tried changing the paper settings and it printed exactly the same. i think our printer might be dirty, but i have no idea how to clean it! haha. the smears are never in the same place so that's why i think it's a dirty printhead or something.
here's an envelope scanned in to show what the ink blobs look like (sometimes it's more blobby than others, this one looks more like a smear):

I've been having a hard time printing on my envelopes from Paper Source. The names and addresses get printed perfect, but I get big ink blob smears all over the envelope. It's never in the same place, sometimes on the edges sometimes in the middle. I think it's due to the paper thickness, because it also has the same problem when I print on card stock folded in half.
Anyone have any printer recommendations for Paper Source envelope printing? We currently have a Canon MP470 that's causing the problem.
