i'm a graphic designer and also do custom wedding invitations and starting my own stationery line. i use the epson stylus R1800 for my mock up print jobs before I decide on the design i'll use for letterpress or send out to the offset printers. It's pricey but you can find it for less than $300 through epson's refurbished section.
cardstock: you can print as thick as 110 lb paper through this printer but only have about 3 in the tray at once...so if you're unfamiliar with design programs and printer set ups, it might take a few tries....but overall, i love my printer. oh... and don't use refillable inks with this or any epson printer...even though it's tempting to buy the cheaper ones, it's so much more worth it later b/c they won't leak!
hope it helps! good luck!

Hi!
With all my DIY projects on the go, I've decided it would be best get a better color printer. I will mainly be printing on cardstock (invitations, place cards, envelopes), nothing metallic like stardream paper.
Anyone love there printer and would recommend it? I'd like to stay under the $300 range.
Thanks!
