I am getting married in 6 months and I want to go ahead and print my own invitations. Is it too soon to get started on that? Will the ink fade? Any advice? Thanks!

I say go ahead. I don't think the ink will fade unless you left them out in the sun or something

@rebekah...you should be fine...just make sure you purchase the ink that is recommended for printing invitations. Some ink that is used for everyday printing can look lighter on heavier stock paper like invites.

You're fine to print ahead! (hehe, we're date twins) But--I would say that it may be nicer looking if you use a laser printer like at Kinkos or go buy one for $90 at Best Buy. If not, buy the best ink you can for your inkjet printer.

I sent mine out in September and printed them and stamped them and put them together in May.  It was perfect.  Go ahead.  I recommend getting anything done/purchased as early as you can.  Don't listen to anyone tell you it's too soon.

I ordered my Save-the Dates from Vista Print and even though I opted for the (cheaper) longer ship time we got them in less than two weeks.  I had printed some on my work printer and the Vista Print looked so much better.  I think it was worth it and with coupons/promotions we only paid $25 for 50 postcards.

My invitations were printed on my HP printer with plain old black ink and grey ink. They came out beautiful... and they were a chore but everyone complimented them and they were so cheap!

After printing out all my invitations i decided to save some trees and my rsvps were just postcards that i stamped, addressed, and all my guests have to do is tell me how many guests they have coming and drop it in thier mail box!

After they are done you will be so proud!
