Everyone tells me I should wear makeup if I’m getting pro-pics done for our engagement/wedding. I normally only wear eyeliner and mascara. I really don’t like the feel of makeup (foundation, concealer, powder) on my face, and I have brown skin (so I won’t risk being pale), and most of all I want to be comfortable on my wedding day.
I’ve seen other posts where people say they are going to go with no makeup or eye/lip makeup only- I’d love to see some shots of your pro-pics from that day!
Also, were you happy with you decision to go with no makeup?
Thanks in advance!

@SleepyBee99: I NEVER wear make up… Maybe once every few months for ultra-fancy occasions?
I got it done for our wedding, and I am SO happy I did!

@BrandNewBride: Interesting! Maybe I should consider it. Did you worry about getting your makeup all over other people? Or maybe I’m the only one that worries about that 🙂

I only wear makeup maybe once every few months. I was going to get someone to do mine for the wedding, but instead I’ll either do it myself or see if one of my fiance’s friends can do it for me because she’s a master at makeup. I did my own for our engagement pics and liked it.

@SleepyBee99: I was worried about it rubbing off on DH’s tux! But she went REALLY light on the foundation and used a nice layer of finishing powder, so I really shouldn’t have worried!
And it REALLY helped the picture quality.

I know that you consider eyeliner and mascara to be no makeup but I used to wear actually no makeup – zip, zero, zilch, nada. I bought a bunch, watched some youtube videos and did my own makeup for the wedding. i felt like I totall overdid it, but the photos are amazing and people actually commented about how great my make up looked. Now I’ve started to wear eyemakeup and gloss on a daily basis!

I did my own make up (but very very little) for our e-pics and had a pro do my wedding day look. I wish I had done something more special for my engagement session. The pics I think speak for themself:

@SleepyBee99: I’m sorry that this isn’t the answer you were looking for. I absolutely hate make up, but I did very simple makeup for our engagment pictures. I’ll be having a pro do it for the wedding. Honestly, just seeing the difference between my before/after makeup during my trial lets me know I definitely made the right decision. My MUA was amazing, and since she did airbrush foundation, I didn’t worry about it rubbing off on anyone, and it lasted for over 12 hours!

Didn’t have any make-up for engagment pics becuase it was a surprise. If we’re being honest, I didn’t even shower and I was sooo tired since we were up at 4 a.m. to watch the sunrise before he proposed. This is one of the only straight on shots of me I have to share. I’m not planning on having a pro do my wedding makeup. My Fiance really doesn’t want me to, he wants me to “look like me” on our wedding day and I never ever wear makeup.

@BrandNewBride: Maybe I should get over that fear! I’m just so not used to it!
@LLemonDifficult: I’ve been thinking about either wearing just my usual eye makeup vs. a pro, but it makes sense to play around with stuff on my own and see if I can create a subtle look that I like. That might be a good starting point for me!
@epalmisano829: I think you look beautiful in both sets of pics! But I see what you mean- your wedding look accentuates your eyes and features really well!
@LTD418: Your engagement pic is so nice! Thanks for posting the pre and post makeup trial- your MUA did a great job! I’m glad to hear it lasted so long too!
@smg5281: You look amazing! Would never guess you were up early and unshowered! I’m happy to hear there’s at least one person out there who isn’t wearing makeup!
I guess I did want to hear people wore no makeup and had no regrets, but ultimately, I wanted the truth from other non-makeup people. It looks like I really should explore this in a real way. I have this fear of looking painted and not like myself. I may try some stuff out (with a MUA or on my own) and take some pics to see how “me” they look. Thanks to all for sharing your experiences and your photos!

@SleepyBee99: what I loved about my look is that Fiance said I still looked like me. The colors she used were tones that were already in my face, so it really was just accenting what I already had.

I usually don’t wear makeup- I’ll do it for special occaisons, but even then it’s mascara and lipstick, and concealer if I need it. I did it for the wedding and was THRILLED with how it came out. I think she did an amazing job and I still totally felt like myself, just much prettier- the trick was figuring out the right coloring.
vs no real makeup:

@SleepyBee99: Commenting to see responses. I also don’t wear makeup, but unlike you I can’t even figure out eye makeup, let alone a foundation that matches. So in my case, I would try to get makeup done, but hopefully they won’t make me orange. I’m naturally pale and would like to stay that way. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place, but I’ve never had makeup done that looked better than no makeup (for me personally, anyway!)

Thanks for posting this thread. I’m also curious to see no makeup pics

I was wearing a smidge of blush for the picture we sent out on our STD, but no foundation or eye anything (I think we edited out a zit on one of us, so this is not a completely unaltered photo):
I’m definitely wearing a little makeup for our wedding. How much has been an issue of contention–I never wear more than a little mineral makeup, and so it kind of bothers Fiance when I don’t look like myself. I’ve been trying out different looks at home, and anything on the eyes is “too much” for him. So I’m trying to balance out what feels normal for us vs. how I want my pictures to look. We’ll see!
