Our wedding is in December at 4pm and since it gets dark around that time FI and I have decided to do a first look to still get the light. My problem is I really wanted outdoor pictures in front of our historic mansion venue, but it will be dark after the ceremony, and if we do it before then all the guests will see us (which i didn’t really want). I’m not sure what to do about this? Any advice?

My wedding is going to be later in the evening so we are also trying to work out how to take good shots without necessarily needing to get dressed up before the ceremony for pictures. We’ve been looking into renting the proper lighting that would be needed by the photographer as she doesn’t have that equipment.
As a last resort we will just show up to the venue a few hours before the wedding and take some shots, may even do it anyways in case the evening shots don’t turn out!

LegallyBrunetteBee: Would it be possible to do the photos at that time on another day?

LegallyBrunetteBee: We had this issue. We had our first look about 2 hours pre-ceremony, just before sunset. Photos followed immediately after (at which point family joined us. We did a first look with family and finished up group/individual photos about an hour pre-ceremony. Everyone went and got a quick snack, drink or spruced up. It worked out fine and no other guests saw us.

- Wedding: August 2013 - The Liberty House
Can’t you do those pictures first, at like 2? Then you can move to s different location.

Astra: We probably can’t take photos outside on a different day as it is private property unless maybe we paid extra but that would be expensive.
WeddingBells2014: Renting lighting is a good idea i hadn’t thought of that! i wonder how that would look in photos?
MeiFrancis: The venue is letting us rent & use the space from 2-10pm and the ceremony starts at 4, so from 2-4 some family was going to be setting up. I wonder if it would be too crazy for us to take pictures at 2ish while people are setting up? If not then 2 would work thanks for the idea!

I also wanted to get pictures of me and my bridesmaids getting ready at this time (2-4 before the ceremony). :/
