I would have him walk up by himself.  I don’t think an escort would work in that case–men generally aren’t escorted down the aisle, whether they’re alone or not.

I’m sorry your grandmother will miss out on your big day!

I think he can walk alone. Usually only women are given escorts, so unless you are having him escort another member of your party, it’s appropriate for him to have his solo moment.

I’m sorry about your grandmother! Perhaps you could add some rosemary to a boutenierre for him… it stands for remembrance. 🙂

We just had my grandfather walk up there by himself.

It might be nice though, if he’d like someone to go with, if a female sister or cousin walked up with him? Just an idea.

Its kinda hard to say since we dont know him but you might just ask him. He might be more comfortable just walking by himself. If you have a sister or cousin that he is close to, he might enjoy the special moment with family. Some men might be offended if they were escorted by someone they barely know or just met.

Actually,I was the MOB,and rather than have my Dad walk in alone, and since my husband was escorting the bride,I asked my Dad to walk me in….I’m so happy to have these pictures of us together! He was as nervous as he was when he walked ME down the aisle. :o)

i think that is a great idea smyly… if your mom doesn’t want to proceed in alone, then maybe she could walk with your grandfather.  that would be very special.
