Does the contract state 6-12 weeks from the wedding or 6-12 weeks from the time images are posted or the images are selected for the album? You might want to verify this with your photographer.
I had initially though 6-12 weeks from when the images were posted online too, but I was reading the contract and it just says 6-12 weeks. It says digital image processing takes 2-4 weeks (I would presume that means after the wedding), which definitely happened on schedule. But even if the album process is supposed to be 6-12 weeks after the images were edited & posted online, it's been 10 weeks since then and no sign of even a proof. Personally, I just hate when vendors tell you they are going to do something and don't. I work in a client- & deadline- driven industry myself, so I know how difficult it can be. I'm just wondering what a more realistic timeframe is from other brides who have gone through it.
I would wait until the 12 weeks since you got the photos pass and then shoot your photog a polite email about it. I know my photographer told us that the times she puts in her contract are the absolute most time she would need, and usually it's a lot faster- and that she's never gone over (which, talking to others who know her and hired her, I believe). It's better business to say 3 months and have it done in 2 than to say 2 months, have something personal come up, and have it done in 3 instead- same timing, but it makes it early vs. late.
That said, there's always the possibility of a family emergency, illness, personal issues, etc. I think your photog should at least contact you if that's the case. But 12 weeks past when you received the proofs seems to be a pretty reasonable timeframe.
Yeah, in my work like I definitely operate by the "underpromise, over-deliver" philosophy because it makes everyone happier. I'm FB friends w/my photog and he's shooting a wedding out west this week/weekend, so my guess is that he's just busy. He's a regular poster so if he went silent for awhile I would suspect something personal came up. But I think it's kinda bad practice to tell someone proactively when you'll deliver something you owe them (I never even asked him about the album - he reached out to me first and told me when he expected to have the proof done) and then fail to follow through.
We were told 3 months, so I'm not sure what that means to you. The waiting is tough!
pengoala - i'm just curious to know, whether on average, three months translates to three or even three and a half months, or does it really mean i should expect to wait 6 months. aligning my expectations with reality here! i was pleasantly surprised to get our image website delievered w/in a month... but it's been dead air since!
@Jaxx317: hmm yeah, well, i just approved our album mock up, so my waiting is just now beginning! So, it's a little disconcerting that you're waiting so long already! :/
jealous you've seen a proof of your album already! i would go ahead a do my own since i have a bunch of codes for free ones, but we have to pay for digital copies of images ($5 a pop!) from the site our photog is using to host the photos, so i have to wait to get the DVD for that too :(

Hello bees!
I've already seen all of my wedding photos online and couldn't be happier with the quality! But our photo package also included an album and DVD with our images, as well as a certain amount of print credit that I asked to be applied toward 2 parent albums. So I'm just curious to hear how long some of bees out there have waited to get their photog produced-wedding albums, compared to when your contract or photographer has said you'd get it.
Not that I'm in any particular rush to get the albums, but my photographer owes us three and I have yet to see a proof of ours, which he said he is designing first, and it's been almost 3.5 mos since the wedding (our contract says 6-12 weeks for albums). I feel like I keep getting put off (first I was told "in a few weeks," and then "in a few days" and still nothing), which I've heard is common. Any advice for when I should go from polite and gentle checking in to more aggressive follow up?
