What about wooden dowels or craft sticks? You could make them look better by painting them your colors or decorating them with coordinating ribbon.  I don’t know what shipping to Australia costs but I’m guessing it’s spendy! Good luck!

@sharontobemarried:  Do you have a lowes or home depot there

I used paint stirring sticks and painted them white and cut them in half…they gave me a bunch free at my local lowes!

If this what you are referring to has handles?

Edit….I will need to remove this pic soon since it has our name on it (pic removed)

@weddingbound:  Great job! What type of paper did you use? Did you glue both together? Does it feel sturdy enough for people to fan? Just curious, I am about to start making ours.

@bmo88:  Yes we used thick paper from the craft section…..they worked excellent and came in handy for our DW since it was quite warm!

@weddingbound:  Good to know. I did a test one and the paper wasn’t quite thick enough for me to feel comfortable it would work. Our wedding is in August and the ceremony will likely be in the 80’s…so I am hoping this will help cool guests down a little. Also, did you use a edge rounder device? Sorry, don’t know the actual name.

@bmo88:  No we just cut with regular scissors. DH created a border around the edge and I just cut it. I didn’t have many to make thou since our wedding was small
