I think in your situation a blanket statement might be better.

I’m not sure if you mean your family has been “terrible” as far as wedding stuff, or just in general (either way, I’m sorry!)

You can thank you family generally for being there for you and making you into the people you are today,

and then thank your dear friends for all their help with the wedding plans, and their support of your relationship and marriage etc.

I thanked our wedding guests, our close friends, and then our families (in that order)  All three thank you were heartfelt, but short and applied to everyone (i.e. not individual notes of thanks!)
