Just curious how important programs are to ya.  I'm still not sure if I'd like to do them.  Making them could end up being a stressful process!  I don't even know how to begin the wording, let alone the look of them.

Are there sites that help out?  There has to be, there's a site to help with everything (speaking of, I was just told there's a site to help you shoplift in specific stores, what kinda crap is that?... sorry, unrelated).

This is something I REALLY want to do, but not sure if it's worth the time/cost.  We're having a very basic ceremony anyway, so our guests won't be confused if they don't have one.

Honestly, I love programs. I always read through every word at every wedding I go to! That's probably just because I'm a huge reader, and if anyone puts anything in front of me with words, I will be reading it.

Anyways, I think that if you do skip them, it wouldn't be a huge deal...most people probably wouldn't miss them!

Did you see this post by Miss Spaniel? I thought it was really helpful!

I'm not sure if its worth it either!  That's why I'm hoping people will chime in.  We're going to have a lot of family and friends from either side that haven't meet each other, so they won't necessarily know who the guests are.  And the ceremony won't be too long, so I don't know that they need a play by play.

I'm not doing programs. We're having a super laid back wedding and I just don't see the point.

I was on the fence until I went to a wedding this weekend without programs. A lot of people were looking for them and I was even a little taken back that there were no programs. I guess in our family circle the have become pretty regular.

Our event was very laid back but it was a DIY I really wanted to do because it was a big part of my inspiration for the entire event.

In general, I don't really think they're super important if you have a good MC/DJ.

I think they are really a nice idea if you are having a longer religious ceremony or a number of different activities/speakers. It can do a lot to inform people who everyone is, and what the expectations are.

If your ceremony is simple and straightforward, though, I think they are unnecessary.

Oh, amanda.lynn- that's a great post!  Thanks for passing it along.

I guess I'll probably end up doing them.  Hope its not too difficult!  Doesn't help that my printer bit the dust, instead of buying a new one before the wedding I think I'll just try to become bff's with the guys in our graphics unit.....

We had programs, and everyone loved them but I don't know how many people actually read them.  And they took up a lot of time!  But I was proud of them in the end.

I originally wanted to do programs, but ran out of time and motivation in the weeks leading up to the wedding. And to be honest, not a single person noticed we didn't have them - honestly, I think it added to our ceremony that we didn't have them. It made our ceremony more of a surprise to everyone. We had a very non-traditional ceremony, so in the end I think it worked out perfectly.

as a guest i love programs - something to read while waiting because some brides can be very late plus they make excellent fans for weddings in the summer

I don't think we're going to do programs. We're trying to keep things as cheap and green as possible. Programs are nice to have as a guest but they always get thrown out in the end. (For the same reason, we're not going to do RSVP cards; we're just going to have everyone RSVP on our website).

We're thinking about doing the menu and the seating chart on nicely-decorated vintage chalkboards. Maybe we can write the program on another board too.

i'm not doing them. we're having a 30 person ceremony, and i think most people will know or be able to figure out who the bridal party/processional is. we're including a lot of jewish traditions, but and there's probably 10ish non jews, but a lot of them know our traditions because they've been friends with me for so long, and i'm sure our rabbi will explain them as we go. for me, it's not worth the extra time and money.

I love programs - they can be as simple or as complex as you'd like - but it gives everyone an idea of what's going on and who everyone is.... I'll be doing them, for sure.  Plus, you can do them ahead of time, so no big rush!

We did programs. I got very busy in the last few days before the wedding and told my husband that we just weren't gonna do them anymore. He actually wanted them enough that he went out and bought the supplies and made them with the help of his 2 groomsmen the night before our wedding! haha I don't really think they're necessary, but they are nice if you can find an hour or two to do them.

He bought 2 packs of 50 or so from Michaels and they were pretty inexpensive. I think it came with link to a website or something that had a template you could use so they were easy to do too.

I am definitely doing programs.  I think the guests would miss it if we didn't.  However, I am not going to spend a ton of time on them.  I am going to pull a template from online and probably just do a sheet of paper folded in half.  That way they are there if guests need/want them but I won't be upset that I spent a ton of time on them if no one uses them.
