ok, I was looking through some pics on my laptop and came across this one...Jr High Prom...circa, 70 something...I think it was 7th grade prom...I graduated high school in 84...I love how my gf and I are way taller than the boys! I hope the pic loads ok!
Here's me and one of my best friends (now BM) before prom. It was hot, and our dresses had many layers :) I'm on the left.

I'll play, just don't tell my FI, cause that's not him in the pic.
well, i'll be honest - my prom was only like, 2 years ago. i'm a younggin.
here i am avec my best friend!
ooh ill play too. my dress wasnt the most flattering i dont think. but it worked at the time.
@ceamoste - me too!! haha....i graduated in 2009 and the pics are from junior year. (:
I should look through fb! @ceamoste & mrs.menardtobe...my last one was three years ago! lol.
Leelee, yay! You're playing my tune. I graduated in 1984, too. No prom pics handy, but I did just find a picture of myself circa 1982 that made me laugh out loud. Farrah wings, anyone? :)
Yup! Red dress is 2001 (junior for me/senior for him), grey dress was 2002 (my senior). And 9 years later... he's my husband! :)
Awe PROM - here are pics from my highschool prom in 2001! I can't believe that was 9 years ago!
These are the only 2 pics I have scanned! (No digital photography back then LOL)
I am the one in the pink!
@Mrs. Martin- oh yes, I took digital pics of mine with my camera in their frame because I don't have them digitally!
Prom was four years ago for me. I didn't have a date! My best friend was my "date". Kinda lame, but oh well, all I really wanted to do was get dressed up. I found my dress on the vintage section of eBay THREE DAYS before prom. It was deadstock from 1962!

Prom 1996! I suddenly feel old. That's me in the red! I just went with a friend, but two of the couples in this pic later married (one divorced 3 years later, sadly).
This thread begs a further question - how many bees are marrying their high school sweethearts? I didn't know people still did that!
@ veganglam - Your prom dress is beautiful!!! I hope you kept it. Vintage never goes out of style, right? At the time of my prom, the internet had like barely been invented, never mind eBay!
@colette- I married my HS sweetheart! I know there have been threads about it before. Incidentally, my parents are HS sweethearts (married for 30 years next year - together for 37) and my husband's parents are also HS sweethearts (married for ~34 years - together for 40). :)
I've got the best prom story ever :) My fiance and I met in junior high and began to fall in love about a month before his family was planning to move across the country. We stayed in touch, and all through high school spent our summers together and traveled when we could to see each other. Of course, we were poor high schoolers so this wasn't often except in summer.
My friends all pitched in and bought him a plane ticket so he could come for my senior prom. They somehow convinced me to go on a blind date for prom and had this whole elaborate story about who I was going with--the person was real but was never part of the plan! My fiance flew in about two days before prom and we had a wonderful, dream like weekend together.
We later decided to part ways and date other people, but in 2007 he moved back to the west coast and we began dating. We got engaged in December. I'm looking forward to seeing him in a tuxedo again soon!
Here we are, circa 2001:

@Amanda.Lynn: I LOVE your dress. Too bad big poufy dresses were what everyone wore when I went to prom.
@Colette27 - i am :) we started dating when i was in 8th grade and he was in 9th. we've been together for 5 years and 7 months this monday :)
I love seeing your girls prom photos! &especially seeing the different trends in the dresses.
Mine wasn't too long ago! Here is us @ prom 2006.

&in 2007.

What a fun thread! In the first picture I'm in the green and in the second I'm in the blue in between the yellow and the pink :D

Senior Prom? Mine was in '07 but I can't find pic.
Here is us at FI's senior prom in 2008. He tried to say I got him when I was pinning or on corsage. lol.
I didn't graduate very long ago either! Here's FI and I at our senior prom in 2007:

Sorry if it's huge!
My husband was JUST mentioning this last night! He saw an old(er) picture of us from my junior prom on his laptop. I'll have to try to scan some pics later maybe (digital wasn't prevelent yet for us either! this was 2005?) I do have one though, and it remains one of my favorite pictures of us! Last week I actually just found a picture frame in our room that has the photo in it that I kept with me back in college. My story isn't quite as good as sapphirebride's, but it's close! (Love your dress by the way lol) We were in a long distance relationship so I never really thought much about school dances or anything. We got lucky though and my husband was having his college spring break at the same time as my junior prom so he came out here for it! He bought my dress for me and everything. It was truly memorable. Here we are, almost 5 years later, married!

(^ awful picture of me. It was chilly and windy, but it's the best pic I have of my dress on the computer)
@ Colette - I'm marrying my high school sweetheart too (obviously)! We started dating December of our freshman year and our 6 1/2 year anniversary is a week after our wedding day!
LOLOL I love the fact that I'm the OLDEST prom pic here!!! all of your dresses are soo much more stylish!!!! but I have to say...if I had daughters...they wouldn't leave the house with some of those dresses!!! HELLS NO!
@Colette: I did keep it! I just don't know what I'll do with it, ha. It was so weird because I hadn't worn ANY pink in like four years, I just didn't like it. My style was really feminine, but I just wasn't into pink, too much Paris Hilton pink saturation at that time, I think. So for me to go for a giant pink fluffy (I had to cut a crinoline out it was so poofy) dress was daring, for me! And also, I hadn't seen ANY dresses with that full-body ruffle style when I was looking that year, but I swear that the next year, they were everywhere (and I mean, I knew EVERY website on the internet that sold prom/cocktail-type dresses, lol). I'm not about to claim responsibility for a trend but.. ;P I just bought it because I've always loved late 50's/early 60's vintage AND ruffles, so it was perfect. And the organza was so soft, even forty-five years later!
@primp: Is it some sort of 'thing' in your area for everyone to wear garters under their dresses? I see your friend in the first photo at least has one on, and then you all do in the second pic! I love how they all match, and you guys had some great dresses.
I also can't believe how many people are marrying their high school sweethearts! So adorable. I know a few young couples who have done this, but I didn't expect that so many people still do! Congrats all of you, how awesome to really be able to spend your life with the one you love. :D
veganglam; I LOVE YOUR DRESS! I love the fact that you loved vintage at such a young age too!!!
We dated all through high school, but I had such a time finding a picture! Stupid pre-digital :)

2003. Terrible pic, but that's my sister and I with our dates. I'm on the right -- JeniRae, our dresses were really similar! The back of mine was completely open and laced up with no modesty panel eeee. I loved the gold damask type of my sister's dress; she was rocking some Chicago-the-musical inspired hair haha. My hair is horrifically severe. Our dates were friends from band cuz we're cool like that.
Senior Prom 2006.. I went with my boyfriend of 2 years at the time. The first pic is me with my sister (she worked at Outback) and the second is a picture of my hair which I loved!!
I wanna play! circa: 1998 :D

okay wait - so in the states do you guys have more then one prom?
we definately only have one when you graduate highschool...
but yes - my FI is my highschool sweetheart. barely though. he came for an extra year and we started dating a month before school ended :P
@veganglam: I'm totally swooning over your prom dress. Pretty sure I'd wear it as my wedding dress if I had it in my closet! It's aaamazing!
@ceamoste- I think it depends on the school. I know at my high school, you could go to prom your junior and/or senior year of high school, but say you were a freshman and dating a junior, you could go as his date. You can end up going to even more proms if your boyfriend/girlfriend goes to another school so you go to both schools' proms. Senior prom is supposed to the more memorable one though.
Okay, I can't find my prom pics, but here is my homecoming pic in 1996. I am the lil asian girl
Okay, so this was at my parents' house (well, where they lived my senior year of high school.)
I went the non-traditional route and wore a short dress. I love it and still have it to this day!
By the way, this was my senior prom, we went to R's junior prom. Two proms in one year would have been too much for both of us!
