I think it is possible, but why would you do that? The dress is SO BEAUTIFUL on you!! I'm a petite bride that worries about a dress overpowering me, but this dress is just stunning on you - I wouldn't change a thing!!
Samples will not be as poofy as the real dresses as they are tried on hundreds of times and smushed amongst many dresses. I think the extra poof on that dress would be stunning and give it some real punch. You can usually have layers of tulle removed, but before you do that I would love to see a picture of you in the dress you received.
Welcome to the Hive!
@tksjewelry: Thanks, i forgot to take the camera to my first fitting so i don´t have a photo from it :(
@pengoala: This is the photo of the sample dress and mine is much poofier on the hips which worries me. If it would be like the sample i´d be so happy because it is so pretty! Thanks!
The good thing about tulle is that you can remove and add easily...So how bout you just remove some tulle from the skirt if you really arent happy with how it looks?
Welcome to the bee by the way!
@Evie19: Thanks, that´s good to hear that removing tulle is not difficult in case i´d have to do so!
You can remove layers of tulle, but that will effect the length of the dress. If you are positive you want to do that, I would have it done before the hem or you'll pay twice.
The sample is absolutely beautiful on you!
@Georgia Bee: You´re right, i just did not think about the option then! But i hope after the dress is hemmed it looks better and maybe there will be no need to remove the tulle, i wish it would look like the sample. Luckily here in Italy in my salon they do not charge for the alterations, it´s included in the price :)
Wish you would have posted a pic of the other to compare with the sample... but I love the look of the sample- it's beautiful! A seamstress can definitely remove some of the tulle in the skirt for you.
Your gown is gorgeous! A skilled seamstress should be able to help you to reduce the "poof"! No worries!
@melisslp: Thanks, i feel much more reliefed now that i know that part of the tulle can be removed to make the dress look more like the sample!
I always get a kick out of seeing this dress! I am wearing it in February! I am tallish, definitely not petite, so I am happy with the poof amount of the alcanar! Such a gorgeous dress! It looks great on you!
Your dress is so beautiful! I love love love it~Leave it poofy! I am also petite (5'1), and I got a pronovias dress, and I love that it is poofy! Here is a pic of it~it is very similar to yours (sorry to the other bees who've seen my dress a hundred times already):

Oh I also found a picture of your dress in all its poofy glory...it's GORGEOUS and absolutely stunning:

I also tried on the Alcanar.
Liked it beeing poofy, but I chose another one...
I would let it poofy,
if you don't like the style I would try one some other dresses
I mean that I wouldn't change the dress, instead of that I would look for other dresses which are less poofy = )
And I liked it much more with a bolero/"lace top".
[The one I tried wasn't a finished one. .. just for I could imagine how it woold look like... ]
@Kleo07: the Alcanar looks good on you! Which dress you chose?
I like the poofines of the sample dress and thought that the new one would be the same, but it was more poofy which surprised me. Next week I´ll have the next fitting so let´s see how it goes!
Hi I'm new to the Bee. I also bought Pronovias Alcanar for my April 2012 wedding. I woke up the next morning in a panic that it was too poofy and I made the wrong choice. Can you post a picture from your wedding? I think it would help ease my fears :-)
P.S. the picture of the sample is beautiful and I hope that's what mine looks like when it comes in!
I tried the Alcanar and Pergola - yes, they felt poofy, but LOOKED fantastic, as does yours! When I spoke with my consultant, however, she did say that removing crinoline layers wouldn't be a problem at all, so you should be able to do it without much trouble. But I don't think you need to! It looks great!

Hi all, i´m new here :) I´m getting married July 9th and picked my dress in February, the Alcanar from Pronovias which is so beautiful dress! I went last week to the first fitting and to my surprise the dress was much poofy than the sample i tryied on. And this is now bothering me quite much as i´m a petite bride and did not want the dress to be so poofy. It is still my favourite dress and would not want to chance it even if i had the time. Mu next fitting is 1st of July and then I will see it hemmed as it was also too long. Does any of you now if it is possible to remove layers of tulle from the dress if i feel that after hemming it is still too poofy? Here is the sample dress i tryied on which i thin is not too poofy at all:
