My wedding is 5 months away and I only just bought a dress last weekend.
ANYWAY- I’m thinking black bridesmaid dresses- I kind of want to avoid heavy color themes.
I sort of naturally assumed that my bridesmaids would wear lace, as my dress is full of lace. Now my mom is saying that putting lace on my bridesmaids will “take away from my dress”. My mother in law agrees.
Is my mom right? I feel wrong trying to consciously make my bridesmaids not look “too much”. I don’t know : ( I only have 2 bridesmaids, it’s not like I’m going to be in a sea of BMs in my photos.
What do you think? Any Pronovias brides? All I know for sure is that I’d prefer long dresses.

I don’t think you should have the bridesmaids wear lace. It would be sensory overload in your photos. Let you dress stand alone. It is the one time in your life you’ll be the star! That Pronovias gown is seriously stunning, by the way.

Your dress is breathtaking!!!
I’d go for simple black satin dresses for the bridesmaids for a simple elegant look and no lace overkill.

^ thank you both! I trust your opinions, I think oftentimes my taste leads to sensory overload lol. You should see my apartment it’s kind of a mess.
I think satin is very pretty- do you think that’s ok for a July wedding? Some internet sources say it’s meant for winter. I suppose it doesn’t matter

kygirl242 : I agree 100% , that dress is a show stopper I think it would be too much to have your bridesmaids also in lace. Depending on the kind of wedding I would go with a nice chiffon type dress for them.

Your dress is utterly gorgeous, I love it. I agree with the others that lace bridesmaid dresses would be too much lace. I’d go for simple long black bridesmaid dresses in a flowy fabric (like chiffon) or satin if you want a more formal feel. If you’re doing an outdoor ceremony or reception in the summer, chiffon would be more comfortable for them. There can be other elements to the dress to make the bridesmaids stand out– dramatic neckline or back, jewel embellishments, etc. But the simpler the dress, the more likely they’ll be able to rewear it for future occasions.

OMG that dress is AH-MAZING! I got a pronovias dress too =) how much was it if you don’t mind? I’d stick to solid fabric. If you’re outdoors, it may be too heavy for July. Try different solid fabrics, or a flowy dress style that won’t overwhelm the BMs.

- Wedding: July 2017 - Vineyard on Long Island
chiffon or silk would provide a more appealing contrast to your dress in photos

I wouldn’t do an all lace bridesmaid dress, but I also wouldn’t do satin for a summer wedding. It’s too heavy and hot.
You could choose a dress with a bit of lace at the top or some illusion detailing.
