It was pretty much a complete surprise, we had discussed marriage some recently, and I though we’d be talking about it more later on, maybe getting engaged within a few years… then he just proposed!

I voted that we bought the ring together. We’d gone shopping for it, was told it’ll take 7 weeks to be made. We didn’t want to wait and our folks were driving us mental with why are you waiting? So he asked.

None of the above! We talked about it sometimes, but he always left me a bit anxious because after the talk, nothing else moved forward..till last year when we spoke a little more serious and i pushed a little..”So, when?” He smiled and we decided to prepare a family lunch and break the news to our parents.  He DID surprise me a LOT when at Valentine’s Day (this year) he presented me with the most amazing e-ring, though!!

Knew it was coming, we picked the ring together, but he decided when, where and how the proposal happened.

We ordered the ring together online but I didn’t know when it was going to be finished or shipped. It was almost a surprise when one day he left his email logged in on my laptop, which I took to work with me. While at work one of my employees asked to see the schedule, which was in my email. I opened what I thought was my email to see a new message from a female friend of my FI listing good restaurants to go to for our upcoming weekend trip to Atlanta. I thought that was sweet of her to send it to me instead of him, but rather strange since she and I don’t really talk (don’t have much in common, she’s strangely nervous around me.) I opened the email, which turned out to be forwarded from a conversation she had with a food critic friend of hers, saying “my friend is going to propose to his girlfriend this weekend and needs a good restaurant recommendation.” Needless to say my employee/friend and I were jumping up and down squealing. I felt so crappy for reading it but I didn’t do it on purpose! I made him promise to take it to the grave, which honestly will probably mean until we have a little bit to drink at the reception and decide to share! Haha
