Yesterday was the BEST DAY EVER. My fiancee (eeeee!) had been throwing me off for ages, saying that it would probably be months before she proposed and that she still had a lot to do. I knew the ring was coming, since I had ordered it, but I definitely didn’t think I’d get to wear it so soon!
When I got home from work yesterday she had a bag sitting on the bed and asked if I wanted to go to the beach. (We live on Cape Cod, so going to the beach is literally a matter of picking a direction and driving five minutes, haha.) It was about 6:00, so I asked if maybe she wanted to eat first, but she said we could take food with us. I barely had time to grab something out of the fridge before she hustled me into the car, lol. Of course I was slightly suspicious, but I thought I was probably just being overeager and getting my hopes up.
We got to the beach and she said we should go sit by the water. The sun was setting and it was so beautiful, the sky was all gold and blue and we were practically in the ocean. We sat for a little while and ate and then I went to get my soda from her bag. She went no no no! and grabbed it out herself, and she pulled something else out with it.
Bees, she made me a book. A beautiful, incredible, amazing book about how we met and fell in love and our entire story together. It was full of pictures and poems and even texts we had sent each other. At the very end there was a letter she had written for me and I can’t even begin to describe how perfect and sweet and loving it was. And then I turned the page, and it said, “So, will you marry me?”
She got down on one knee (a little awkward because I was sitting) and brought out a wooden box that she had woodburned with quotes and hearts and whales (my favorite animal). She opened it and there was my beautiful ring, sitting on top of sea glass that we had found together on our many beach trips. I think I may have gone into shock at this point? I was crying and saying oh my god over and over and I just couldn’t believe it was happening. I think I said yes before she actually got to ask, lol, and then had to say it again as she insisted on asking!
She slid the ring on my finger, and then she handed me hers so I could put it on her, and we took a couple verrrry dark pictures because the sun had set by that point, lol. Then we went back home and called everyone we could think of!
I am so, so happy and excited and blessed. I really have the best fiancee and partner in the whole world. 😀
Here are pics of my ring! (I got my nails done tonight… you can see they look terrible in the first photo, haha!) My ring is 14k white gold with an aquamarine from Gemvara.
