Sorry bees it’s been almost a month since we got engaged. One crazy month school started back up and starting a new job, blah blah blah.
The good stuff…..08/13/12 6am while on vacation at a camp we rented now fiance wakes me up ever so gently to ask if I want to go out on the boat. (for weeks he had been talking about all the fish in the lake, so I thought he was being cute) So of course I said sure. He was being super attentive to what I was going to wear that morning, odd. He also wanted to tuck our 4 legged bouncing baby boy in bed with his parents, again odd. I thought it best he stay with us so my cute little family of three headed out into the fog down to the boat and the water. I first noticed three long stemmed roses. He says they were for past present and future, three was a significant number. I immediately started to freak. This was it ! We rowed out to the middle of the lake. He tried playing a song list he had created of our favorite songs as a couple. Unfortunately we were in the middle of a lake no phone service. I could see him getting nervous and embarrassed so I made light of it and offered to sing the songs (I do not have a singing voice). He then pulled out a water bottle that he had tucked inside a poem he had found and began to read it to me.
(so foggy morning, big dog jumping around our row boat, roses in my lap…catch you see it?)
This is the poem
ALWAYS AND FOREVER
Author: Robert Small
As I write, I’ll sing this song
for the greatest love I’ve ever known.
To my heart, you have the only key,
I beg of you, never set me free.
I prayed to God for a love so true
now, I, realize He already knew.
In time my prayer WAS answered,
the most wonderful woman
HE BLESSED ME WITH YOU.
What we share feels so right
to say I love you every night.
Wonderful moments shared,
precious memories, still tell me you care.
I see your shadow,
as I lay myself to sleep.
Dreams of you, oh so sweet
in my heart, I will keep.
Look into my heart, my life.
Tell me, what do you see?
can you feel the need, the want, as I
to be your husband, you my wife.
Much joy and happiness you’ve brought me.
If I had life to live again, I’d want to with you,
my lover, my best friend.
Always and Forever, I’ll love you till the end.
At the end he reached again behind him and pulled out a box opened it up and asked me to be his wife. There was a huge long pause I was still back taking in the words of the poem, then I finally said yes !!!! Out came a bottle of champagne and yippy. Engaged !!! His mom was waiting for us at the dock an hour later when we decided to row back to shore. LOVED everything about it.
