My man and I had a very unconventional proposal “week”. Which in fact, pretty much no one in our family knows about..well, the details at least. My hunny and I are on the younger side…19…and we had been dating for over 2 years. We knew after about 6 months together, that we wanted to be together forever. Cliche right?? But so true.
Anyways, he ended up showing me the ring in his bedroom at his parents house about 5 nights before he actually officially proposed. Silly right? Well, I was sulking and being grumpy, telling him he didn’t love me as much anymore and having a bad day, so he looked at me and said “You want to see it?” And I was like what? And he said “You know what.” And I kept arguing with him saying, no you didn’t! I kept trying to convince myself that he hadn’t bought THE ring because I didn’t want to be let down. And then he started laughing as I got up to look around his room. When I got close to his closet, he came over and tackled me onto the bed. He looked into my eyes, and said, “I’m going to show you it. But you can’t have it yet because it wouldn’t be right to just propose like this, right here. I havn’t even talked to your parents. But I’m going to show you because you need to know how serious I am about this. I love you more than anything.”
At this point, I began bawling. I kept asking, “I really get to marry you?” “Are you serious?” And then he got it out of the closet, and we sat there with it on my finger with his bedroom door shut as I cried (tears of amazement, happiness, and excitement).
After I eventually took the ring off and gave it back to him, we sat in there hugging and talking for a while. And 5 nights later, after talking to my parents and I kept the secret that I knew he was going to propose, he took me out to a beautiful, fancy restaurant and proposed downtown by some statues in the park. It was crazy, unconventional, silly week but I wouln’t have had it any other way. The night that he showed me the ring, is one of my best memories together these past 2 and a half years. And now I get to marry him in just 9 more months!
