I could never tell FI this, but I knew what was happening.  I was a little pushy about him buying the ring, so I knew he had it, but I told him he could give it to me whenever he wanted.  The next weekend he asked if I wanted to go up to the lake that is very sentimental to us.  He stopped at the beach we actually talked about getting married at….I just kinda knew.

We discussed marriage and loving each other to the point where our ideas of marriage changed for the better. We also discussed engagements but he was so anti marriage that I didn’t want to get my hopes up and it was very soon into our relationship so I was very surprised.

I’d been bugging him about getting engaged and it’s something that we always disagreed about.  it was going on pretty much for a few months. The night he proposed we had another “discussion” for my reasons to get married vs his reasons not to. We took our dog for a walk and sat by our pool And he pulls out this amazing ring and popped the question!! Lying sack of sh*t. Lol I love him.

There was no proposal. We mutually agreed.

My FI and I had been together 5 years.  He sent me a text before our date that said “I think your day is going to get a lot better 😉 ”  (I had a bad day) and then showed up for our date with a dozen roses.  THEN we went hiking at the exact spot I told him I always wanted to be proposed to.  Very obvious lol….but it was cute cuz he was so nervous all day

@LadyAprill:  I knew that FI wanted to wait to get engaged until we had been dating for 3 years but I didn’t expect that he’d propose on our 3 year anniversary.  I knew he had the ring so I was happy that he still managed to surprise me with the proposal.

@LadyAprill:  I planned it and proposed to him, so I knew exactly when it would happen. I was completely surprised, though, when he gave me my ring.

I was surprised, but I wasn’t. He kept asking me which of 4 rings I liked best, said it was ‘an opinion for a friend at work’, but flipped when I changed my choice. Then a few days before he took my promise ring, said he would happen to give it back on Valentines Day. (totally not suspicious). I thought he wouldn’t do it until I turned 21 in November (which he said he was sticking to), but taking my ring gave it away.

I knew that he had the ring, but he still managed to completely surprise me. He threw me off by telling me he wouldn’t propose on Valentine’s Day. I believed him because he had said this before and really meant it. I didn’t expect it that day, but it happened! I was completely and totally surprised. It was wonderful 🙂

It wasn’t a super huge surprise, we had discussed it multiple times, so I knew it was going to happen, I didn’t know WHEN. So that was a surprise!
