We didn't bring props, but here are some things that might be cute:
1. sunglasses
2. boxing gloves
3. "to go" coffee cups from your fave coffee joint
4. silly hats
Any hobbies/sports that you guys are into that you could incoroporate?
A girl on one of the blogs I read brough a DIY bouquet made of sunflowers to her shoot this past weekend. I've seen lots of pics with balloons, flowers, parasols, mustaches on sticks, etc. But I don' think you even really need props if you don't want any!
She does and that would be cute, but I am a cat person. :( I do not have a dog and my cats do not travel well. :)
We just did ours this past Monday, but we didn't bring props! We still had a great time and now I'm just anxious to get the pictures!
We don't plan on using props. I think our photos would feel a little more awkward and staged with them. But, I have seen some amazing e-pics with props like umbrellas, hats, etc.
THanks everyone for the ideas, please, keep the ideas coming!
Lesanna, that made me think, he loves golf. His clubs would be an idea. And I loved your photo!
We're taking e-pics next week and we are borrowing a tandem bike for them, can't wait!
We had an umbrella, sunflowers, Yankees hats and our fall-weather coats. I wish we had coffee cups or wine glasses and a bottle of wine so we could do relaxing picnic-like shots or to mix up all the "bench in a park" shots.
Have fun!!
i have a good friend who did her engagement photos with an old chalkboard, on which they wrote "love", and a tandem bike. They turned out so cute! Their pictures are here:
We saved money on our e-photos, by using some photos our photographer (and sister of the groom) took of us in the mountains. She's an amazing photographer so everyone just assumed those MUST be our e-photos. :o) Can't say we had any props though. Good luck!!
We brought a sign that said : "There's no place like Salve" (our college) and I made scrapbook papers saying "Save the Date" and our wedding date. Other than those, we just brought changes of clothes to mix things up a bit.
Snacks! It'd be cute to have a pic of you and your fiance sharing a cupcake :)
ice cream, i do letters or we do i suppose lol, i LOVE the balloons!! i love pix inside of ice cream parlors or coffee shops, even a cool shoe store or laudromat.
I think the best props either fit the location, or fit the couple. If you are geeks, bring your mac laptops! Both have iPhones? Do you both wear stylish sneakers? Love to cook together, bring some cupcakes to snack on and play with!
And don't forget to incorporate pops of color! They make such a huge difference in e-pics I think!
We had a classic black umbrella and that was it.
What about setting up a picnic-like area? Basket, blanket, wine bottle/glasses, grapes, cheese, etc etc.
Nice ideas people! Ilove the tandum bike and picnic idea. I am so not creative.
LOVE the cupcake idea!
I am actually bringing cupcakes to my boudoir photos!
There are so many great suggestions here! A picnic theme like Mermaid1082 suggested is a great idea for inside a historic park. Definitely incorporate things that go along with you as a couple. Board games? Books? I love the idea of an umbrella and some colorful rain boots.
We thought it might rain, so I went out and got a rainbow umbrella from Target. I'll attach our picture with it - I'm so glad I got it, because it's the perfect photo for our save the dates!
We had props. I bought picture frames and a white board (to photoshop in our date for save the date cards).
I really like balloons and the umbrella idea ^_^
We're bringing a few redbulls only because we're addicted and if you know us you know that we have issues with redbull. Plus we're bringing his streetbike and some donuts.
I think we're just going to bring an umbrella (mostly because rain is a distinct possibility!) and possibly use avocado's suggestion of iphones since we're both obsessed! I also do a lot of photography myself, so I was thinking of bringing my camera along to use as a prop. I ride a motorcycle so I'd love to use that as a prop, but my fiance hates them, so I'd have no luck getting him anywhere near it :(
I love everyone suggestion. Like avocado and a few other girls said, do a prop that fits the location. Well, in a park, what do you do? A picnic!! I have a sewing basket made out of the rattan material and bought a few snacks to go in the basket. That is what we are going to do.
Thanks everyone for the help.
We brought props! We brough an antique sled to our winter engagement shoot and it MADE the shoot. Last month we had an anniversary photo shoot and we brought a parasol from our wedding, and our photog surprised us by bringing big heart-shaped lollipops. Super cute!
I just spoke with the photographer to verify the time tomorrow. He also seemed to like the picnic idea. Plus he wants books and bubbles. Got the books, not the bubbles. :) So excited!
I love all the ideas here!!! You guys would be shuch fun brides to photograph... Bring objects that you think may be fun, that you like the look of or that you think represent you, even if you haven't seen them being used in an engagement shoot before (I would say that would be pretty cool, actually!)... here is a shoot where we got to use a lot of props (ok, it was Halloween :-): http://www.anandalimaphotography.com/2009/10/mina-and-kevins-halloween-engagement.html

We are getting our engagement photos on 10/31. We are doing it in a historic park. I was told to bring props. Did anyone else brings props? If so, what did you bring. He said a book, umbrella, etc and I can't think of anything cute.
